NO DISCOUNT SECOND TIME AROUND!

It's no wonder cinemas are near empty and closing down all over the country. When one goes to see the same movie for the second time, the Ster-Kinekor cards do not permit the discount. One would think Ster-Kinekor would be delighted to have us back for any movie on a second or more occasions! Seems not!

Very unfriendly app and website

Absolutely pathetic app and website..you cannot book a ticket especially when you try to load a discount..it's almost like the don't want want to give you a discount..so after multiple attempts you give up. Not user friendly by any means.

I have booked tickets for a 3D movie for my wife and me. I was charged for 3D glasses when I booked my tickets, but upon entering the theater, I was shocked to find it in a terrible state. It was clear that no effort had been made to clean up after the last screening. We even took photos and a video to document the area where we were expected to sit, and this was just moments before the movie started! During the film, we realized that we could watch the entire movie without the 3D glasses, which made no difference to the picture quality. This made the glasses seem unnecessary, leading me to believe that Ster-Kinekor was taking advantage of customers by claiming it was a 3D experience when, in fact, it was just a regular 2D movie. I felt cheated for having to pay for the 3D glasses. Additionally, according to Ster-Kinekor's own promotion, when you book a full movie ticket, you're supposed to receive popcorn and a drink. However, we received nothing of the sort this time. Once again, this felt like an instance of false advertising and broken promises. When we asked to speak with a manager, we were informed that the manager was unavailable—not even on-site—and that no other senior staff members were available to assist us. This lack of customer service is disappointing. If this is what Ster-Kinekor has become—charging for a “movie experience” while cutting corners at every turn—then perhaps they should consider closing the Irene Ster-Kinekor location for good. No one deserves to be treated this way.

Awesome movie experience

Ster-Kinekor at N1 City Mall is such a great cinema for a fun and relaxing movie experience. The staff are friendly, the cinema is clean, and everything feels well-organised. The seating is comfortable, the sound and picture quality are excellent, and the overall experience is enjoyable from start to finish. A perfect place for a movie date or a weekend outing.

New Ster Kinekor systems are dire

The new app and website is dreadful and was impossible to actually purchase the ticket so had to buy in person at Bayside. After 3 attempts on 3 different machines as we couldn’t select the seats I was able to purchase the tickets but the Discovery kids discount was not recognized.

Not a fan of STER KINEKOR FAN CLUB

The rewards team at Ster Kinenor must be the most disorganized lot I have yet to come across. I am a member of their STER KINEKOR FAN CLUB which grants you 4 tickets a month as well as points for every movie watched. Their app often has incorrect info about booking dates, does not display the amount of tickets available to use and their point award system is just enough to drive you to write a bad review. NOT ONCE in a YEAR (in 2025) have the points been awarded correctly if at all. It is now at a point where I mail them after every movie to ask them to add the points to my total. I think I have exceeded 50 e-mails in total. It's frustrating and I would NOT USE THIS REWARD SERVICE if you do not like to fight for every point that is yours after you. Please Ster Kinekor, for goodness sake, employ a decent coder or app writer that actually knows what they are doing!

Ster Kinekor Theatre I will never watch your movies again. I booked my free birthday voucher and regular combo online, but since I couldn't make the original date I asked to change it immediately but was told no you can't and that I would have to forfeit my birthday voucher and would get a refund for my combo but I am still waiting for that since 10th Dec. Your customer service stinks, no communication follow ups. Why bother with birthday vouchers if you going to treat your customers like this.
