SA Home Loans Insurance
Based on recent customer reviews, SA Home Loans Insurance is facing significant dissatisfaction from policyholders, particularly around claims handling. Customers consistently mention rejected claims citing wear and tear, lack of maintenance, or defective workmanship, often following storm, hail, or geyser-related incidents. A recurring theme is frustration with assessors perceived as biased and contractors delivering substandard repairs. Communication breakdowns, slow turnaround times, and difficulty reaching claim consultants further erode trust. While isolated voices praise helpful staff members and friendly service, the overwhelming sentiment reflects a sense of being unsupported when clients need their insurance most.

We got issue with gas geyser that was reported on the 24th March, their contractor came and only changed battery box, we paid access, the issues persisted, we reported again a week later and he came back on the 7th April and did nothing, we've been awaiting for a feedback from insurance and ive been calling 3 days consecutively with no assistance other than them telling me they will call me back but they never do. Yesterday the consultant said there's report from their contractor that was forwarded yo the manager and she will forward the email and that insurance wont cover for whatever the reason and we still haven't received anything other than the frustration to bag a business regarding the outcome

On 3 may 2026 I lodge a claim coz my kitchen floor tiles was lifting up and cracks when u walked over it.I phoned again on 4 may 2026 and discovered that complaint wasn't reported as an emergency. On 4 May they send someone to assess and on 6 May Sanela phoned to say the claim was rejected and I must gt my own contractor and paid for it myself.Im a pensioner and always see that my payments are paid up for this kind of incidents. The floor is not fixed yet and it's inconvenient for me to use the kitchen like I use to.Please assist me in this matter

I am extremely disappointed with the handling of my claim by SAHL Insurance. Following 3 days of severe localized flooding and heavy rainfall, I submitted a claim for sudden and significant water damage to my property. I have only been residing in the home for one year and had never experienced any leaks or water ingress prior to this event. SAHL Insurance rejected the claim, citing wear and tear, lack of maintenance, and alleged design defects. While I acknowledge that no property is perfect, these factors did not result in any failure until the extreme weather event occurred. The damage was sudden and directly linked to the intensity of the rainfall. The rejection appears to rely heavily on exclusions while disregarding the proximate cause of the loss. I believe this claim has been unfairly assessed and that the decision lacks balance and proper consideration of the actual cause of the damage. I am formally requesting a reassessment of my claim. Should this matter not be resolved fairly, I am prepared to escalate it further, including through my legal protection plan and the appropriate regulatory and dispute resolution channels.

Hi, Please be careful & take extreme precaution with dealing with sa homeoans insurance as a client this my opinion. in march I discovered a portion of my wooden floor damaged not sure how did it happened however I called sa home loans insurance to log a claim on the 9th march 26 I spoke to a claim consultant name by Taina Naidoo while she was on the call with me she sent me a rejection letter to say that water pipe leaks or drain leaks or something similar that caused the damage are excluded from the policy without due process of sending out a assessor to what caused the damage, she asked me how did the wooden floor damaged and I told her I have no idea as I had a a huge dressing table was placed where damaged occurred so I was unable to notice, I mentioned to her there is no water pipe not even near by or any kind of pipe which relets to rejection letter yet my claim was rejected unfairly, ***********ly in bias manner which shows lack of understanding however almost a month later I call them back and they refer me to a claim consultant named by ,Sarfaraaz Shaik he sent out a assessor in April 26 from CLA & ASSOCIATES a gentleman named by SYLVAN HE assessed & asked me that he can see presents of turmite I told him I have no idea as I had dressing table above the damage area and there is a window so I told him I suspect that one of the Windows must've have been left open accidentally or otherwise that's how the water got access & floor got damaged hence it was underneath the dressing table it was difficult to identify immediately now they send me 2nd rejection letter to say that the water damaging the floor or water accessing the area is ongoing & turmite being found there for the claim has been rejected, NB: I did my research and I found it's obvious if water stays on the wooden floor it will eventually create turmite in due course, I am Extremely disappointed, devastated angry & helpless whenever sa home loans insurance has to fix or payout always find ways & means to avoid entertain there clients, & the odecity i must fix the said damage using my own money &; send them the proof of repair done,..I understand there is genuine claims & there mighty **** claims as well but they should go by merrit of claim & not treating everyone with the same stick, unfortunate and biased assessment to avoid entertaining clients claim,,, please be warned when you are dealing with sa home loans insurance you will have to sweat before you even get your report though it might be not in your favour, I had to follow up 3 days to get a negative report that's show's lack of seriousness towards the client,,, I just mentioned what was in my mind,, frustrating experience,,, I Refuse to accept the outcome & I am busy with legal advice and scrutiny..

We suffered a severe and traumatic event due to the hail damage, only to be met with indifference, poor communication, and slow, inefficient service from SA Home Loans. There is absolutely no sense of urgency, empathy, or genuine care for the client. This experience has added unnecessary stress to an already difficult situation. SA Home Loans has failed us at a time when support and efficiency were critical. Poor Workmanship and Lack of Quality Control – SA Home Loans Insurance Repairs I am extremely disappointed with the quality of workmanship provided by contractors appointed through SA Home Loans for our wardrobe repairs. The cupboards have been installed completely misaligned — some sections are noticeably higher and others lower — with visible gaps along the walls. The finish is untidy and unacceptable, clearly showing a lack of skill and attention to detail. There was also no proper supervision or quality control, which is evident in the poor end result. After the original wardrobes were removed, we even had to push and motivate the contractors ourselves just to have the walls treated with damp seal paint — something that should have been standard practice, not something the client has to request. It feels like SA Home Loans prioritises the cheapest quotes over quality workmanship, allowing substandard contractors to complete jobs without accountability. As a result, we are left with work that is far below acceptable standards in our own home. Summary: The overall experience has been frustrating and disappointing. Instead of restoring our home, the process has created additional stress and left us with poor-quality finishes. SA Home Loans needs to take responsibility for the contractors they appoint and ensure proper supervision, quality checks, and a standard of work that clients can trust.
