Based on recent customer reviews, Pathcare receives sharply divided feedback. A recurring theme is frustration with billing and accounts, where customers consistently mention disputed invoices, unexpected charges after cash payments, rejected medical aid claims, and aggressive handover to debt collectors before queries are resolved. Communication breakdowns and unanswered emails are frequently raised. In contrast, individual phlebotomists draw heartfelt praise, with customers highlighting calm, gentle, and professional blood draw experiences at certain branches. The clinical front-line service often impresses, while the administrative and billing experience consistently undermines overall trust.

To whom it may concern I was referred to Melomed Bellvile for test and taking samples on the 19 March 2026. (Biopsy) They assessed me and took samples for testing of which they charged me R8424. As I am not in any medical aid, I had to go borrow money as I believe my life is worth than just money. I paid them R5000 in cash on card and made arrangements to pay the other amount off monthly. I also had to pay for a Mammogram that was R2350.00 which I paid in full. After that they said I have to go for biopsy which was R8424.00 of which I paid R5000.00 and still owe R3424.00 for the biopsy that I agreed on. I had to wait for my results which I had to go to my doctor for it the next week. After the results came back I thought I was done with Melomed as my results came back negative. “PRAISE GOD” To my surprise, I got an email from Pathcare the 30th March 2026 who send me a bill of R7551.90 that made me almost faint. I never had any dealings with Pathcare nor signed any agreements with them so why must I pay them. No one at Melomed informed, discussed or explained to me that they will take the samples and send it to Pathcare for testing and I also have to pay Pathcare separately. This is insane and open eye ******* that wants to make the poor poorer and the rich richer. I paid an amount at Melomed for my biopsy R5000 and made arrangement to pay the balance off so whatever dealing they have with Pathcare they must sort it out between them. Valencia [email protected]

Absolutely shocking experience. I have never dealt with a more unprofessional and *********** company. After paying in person at a Pathcare branch, I received confirmation in November 2025 that my account balance was R0.00. Months later, I suddenly started receiving calls and messages claiming that there has supposedly been an outstanding amount since June 2025 - yet nobody has been able to provide a proper invoice or explain the discrepancy. I requested clarification and supporting documentation back in January 2026 and was completely ignored. Instead, the harassment continued with repeated calls and payment reminders. On top of that, they send password-protected ZIP files instead of simple PDFs, and the password they provided doesn’t even work. Their systems are clearly a mess, and the lack of communication, accountability, and basic customer service is unbelievable. Expect endless frustration, contradictory information, and zero urgency in resolving issues they created themselves.

What a rediculous pathetic team of administrators. They have now the second time debited my account tice for the same lab tests. They cannot refund onsite so this has to go to their central admin. This takes weeks according to the lab. I requested it earlier by mailing the admin department. Then they have a form that needs to be submitted. I submitted this, but the they indicate that i have to give consent as the main member, but did I not request the refund in the first place? Just plain bad pathetic non-sensical, beuorocratic admin. Go figure!

My father utilized the services of Pathcare while hospitalized . PathCare’s debt collection practices are extremely concerning. My father queried whether his account had been billed correctly to his medical aid and requested clarification before making payment. Instead of addressing the billing dispute, they flagged his account for handover to external debt collectors and warned of additional collection costs. No response whatsoever to the query, just pressure tactics. Customers deserve transparent billing and fair treatment, not threats while legitimate disputes remain unresolved.

I have handed in a urine sample for testing on 2026/04/02 at 08:35 according to your system it was received i will assume at the lab at 09:16 . I was told it will take 24 hours for the result. I checked on the app everyday and every day i received a notification that it will be available the next day. I have screen grabs to proof that. Its now the the 7th of April. You have submitted the claim to my medical aid already but hey presto no results yet. It will now only be available on the 8th from 08:26. It look like the only system that work on your side is the accounting system. Needless to say I will request my specialist and GP in future to NOT USE PATHCARE for any of my tests.

I would like to take a moment to recognise truly exceptional service from PathCare. On 27 February 2026, while I was in hospital for a rhizotomy procedure, a staff member named Ena assisted me with a blood draw. I have a severe fear of needles - not just blood draws, but anything involving needles is extremely distressing for me and usually leaves a lasting emotional impact. However, Ena approached me with such kindness, patience, and a calm, reassuring presence that she completely changed that experience for me. For the first time, I felt safe and at ease during a procedure that would normally leave me overwhelmed. What stands out the most is that nearly a month later, I still think about that moment and instead of anxiety, it makes me smile. That is something I never thought I would say about any needle-related experience. In a world where it’s easy to complain about poor service (and I have, when necessary), I believe it’s just as important to recognise when someone goes above and beyond. Ena is a true asset to PathCare, and I sincerely hope she receives the recognition she deserves. Thank you, PathCare, for having staff who remind patients that healthcare can still feel human.

Pathcare consistently time and again submits invoices where medical aid rejects the claim on the basis that the test was not part of the profile requested. This practice is evidenced by many other similar experiences on Hellopeter - and yet they continue to do it. This has happened on 3 occasions over the past two years in respect of my elderly mother. Even the medical aid administrator has advised that my mother should not be liable if Pathcare cannot provide proof of the test request. Pathcare then hand you over to a debt collector. When you ask the debt collector for proof of the test request - it is not forthcoming. When the first doesn't succeed, it seems to then be handed over to another debt collector and the same story plays out. Now I have been told that I cannot resolve this for my 90 year old mother who is on palliative care - she must approve that I can resolve it for her! So no matter what you do with Pathcare - they seemingly continue to invoice for tests not requested, make it impossible for you to resolve and refuse to assist in resolving an issue they have created. I will have no choice now but to take this to the OHSC and the Consumer Ombud.

I recently visited Pathcare for my blood tests, with the request form clearly indicating what tests should be done. At the billing stage, Pathcare billed a test that was never requested and this resulted on that portion being rejected by my medical aid. Why must I be liable for your incorrect billing? Lancet was doing a great job, I don't know about you.
