Based on recent customer reviews, Stage Zero delivers a sharply polarised experience. Customers praise named consultants and technicians for warm, knowledgeable service and celebrate visible electricity savings once systems run well. However, billing disputes, cancellation harassment tied to legacy Vox contracts, and slow complaint resolution dominate negative feedback. Installation quality is generally strong but undermined by stock delays and unresolved post-installation faults.

I am extremely disappointed with the level of service and communication I have received from Stage Zero regarding my solar system installation/support. From the beginning, communication has been inconsistent, slow, and unprofessional. I have repeatedly had to follow up for updates, answers, and assistance, yet my concerns are either ignored or addressed far too late. I have left numerous messages on their helpline, including messages on their app. We have left numerous messages for Mr Riaan Frik, only for them to be ignored. For a company operating in the solar and energy sector, where customers invest significant amounts of money and rely on proper support, this level of service is completely unacceptable. There has been little to no proactive communication from Stage Zero. Promises of callbacks or updates are not honoured, and getting clear information about my solar system has become frustrating and exhausting. As a paying customer, I expected professionalism, transparency, and reliable after-sales support — none of which I have experienced. The lack of accountability and urgency has caused unnecessary stress and inconvenience. Customers should not have to chase a company continuously just to receive basic communication or support. The system has now doubled our monthly electricity payments, where we were advised that our reliance on City Power would be minimal, where this is not the case. I am posting this review in the hope that Stage Zero finally takes this matter seriously, improves its customer service standards, and provides the assistance and communication that should have been given from the start. I would appreciate urgent intervention and proper resolution to my outstanding issues.

Possibly the most irrelevant useless service provider of all time poor communication threatening emails this is a completely abysmal company for an add on fibre service. Definitely not worth the fees.

I originally got a UPS during load shedding, but once load shedding ended I tried multiple times to cancel because I was no longer using it. Emails were ignored completely for weeks/months. The only time anyone suddenly became responsive was after I stopped paying out of frustration. Then collections started calling me constantly every second day between 7–9am demanding payment. Ironically, the collections department was far easier to reach than customer service or cancellations. I eventually got through to someone who told me I would still need to pay the missed payment plus another month before they would process the cancellation. Although unhappy about this, I finally paid it just to get the matter resolved. Now, despite payment being made, I am STILL being contacted about outstanding payments and I’m still struggling to get confirmation of cancellation or collection of the UPS unit. The customer service, cancellation process, and communication have been extremely frustrating and exhausting to deal with.

I would strongly recommend doing thorough research before using Stage Zero Solar in Port Elizabeth, specifically regarding the contractors used for installations. In September 2025, we had a solar system installed at our home. Prior to installation, I had an agreement with the owner of Hitech, Reghardt, that the mounting brackets would be installed first so I could waterproof around them, as our roof has very old fish scale tiles. The agreement was that they would come a day before the panel installation to allow time for this preparation. That unfortunately did not happen, and the entire installation was completed in one day. Only afterwards did I discover that numerous roof tiles had been broken during the installation process. I had spare tiles available and would have replaced any damaged tiles had this been communicated to me at the time. Instead, the installation was completed and no mention was made of the damage. The first rainfall after the installation resulted in severe leaks throughout the house — through ceilings, light fittings, and into areas with wooden flooring. Upon inspecting the roof space myself, I found multiple openings where damaged tiles had been left unrepaired beneath the solar installation. Since October 2025, I have repeatedly raised this issue and have continuously had to follow up myself, with little to no proactive communication in return. In the meantime, I have had to implement temporary measures at my own expense, including installing flashing to divert water away from the damaged areas, sealing panel gaps with waterproofing tape, and placing four 210L buckets permanently in the ceiling to collect water during rain. It is now May 2026, nearly June, and the matter still remains unresolved. No meaningful repair work has been completed, nor has there been any offer to remove the panels so that the roof can properly be repaired. This has been an extremely frustrating and ongoing experience, and in my opinion, the standard of workmanship and after-sales support received has been unacceptable.

We have decided to install solar at our house and after numerous quotations and meetings with various suppliers we decided on Stage Zero as they had the best deal for us on rental and service contract. We have been with them since November 2025 and not 1 day been disappointed for deciding to go with Stage Zero. We have saved a lot of money and time since we decided on Stage Zero. They are efficient and helpful in every sense of the way. From the very beginning with calculating what system to get, installation and after sales service. I would 100% recommend them to anyone interested in putting Solar on their property.... Stage Zero thanks for changing our lives for the best. You guys rock!!!!!

We have rented a solar System with Stage Zero. The sales team worked fast to set up the contract and went out of the way to answer my questions. Installation was meant to take 6 weeks becasue of a lack of parts. However, within a week or 2 I was told that they had made a plan and a time was set for the installation. The installation was good and they also answered my questions. The team worked efficently and cleanly. 1- But as soon as the team left, my prepaid meter tripped and showed an error message. I had to call the electricity department to reset it and it tripped the following day. Problem: the box was not compatible with solar and I needed a new meter. Stage Zero team failed to inform me of this despite all their experience. I had to pay for a new meter. The Municipal team informed me that application for solar need to be approved BEFORE installation by Stage Zero, so that the electricity department can ensure the correct box is installed. 2- I have purchased a 5kw invertor. Despite the battery been charged, and full sun, the invertor only handles a load of about 3.5kw. In other words, if 1 geyser and another appliance runs, the system pulls from the grid despite ample charge in the batteries. The invertor should be able to handle a miniumum of 5kw of power. I am now paying for electricity despite having power in the batteries. Stage Zero have still not adequatly adressed my concerns. I need a new invertor becasue what they have provided is substandard. 3- The invertor is NOISY: it works 24/7 and I can hear it through doors. The system pulls a consistent 0.2kw/h from the grid despite batteries been charged. By no means can it be placed in a house. Other invertors I've seen are in peoples living rooms and don't make a sound. 4- The wiring in the roof was loose in conduit cables. For this Stage Zero responded and sent a team to ensure the connections were up to spec. 5- The system was installed on the 6th of March, and the plans have yet to be approved by the municipality. Stage Zero works on referral system. In good conscience I could not refer this company until the invertor problem is addressed and their ethics around installation before municipal approval is dealth with.

This company must have the worst customer service ever when it comes to solar companies. I have been waiting since March for them to give me feedback on a simple change on my account. All I get is the generic response of “we are waiting for feedback from our accounts department”. I have been getting this since March. The supposed manager doesn’t even bother answering when phoning the number he provided in his email signature. I won’t do any further business with this company.
