Based on recent customer reviews, Paystack receives sharply polarised feedback from South African merchants. A recurring theme is frustration with prolonged compliance reviews, frozen payouts, and unresponsive support, with customers consistently mentioning weeks of waiting, unclear escalation paths, and difficulty reaching a human agent. Disputes, refunds, and onboarding requirements such as live websites are common pain points. On the positive side, satisfied users praise the platform's API integration, varied payment methods, fast transaction processing, and standout individual support agents who resolve issues promptly and communicate clearly.

they are failing to refund me R299 stating that " we’re unable to process the refund from our end at this time. The funds associated with the transaction have already been settled directly with the merchant, and the business is currently no longer active on our platform" i bought a smart watch via them

Im having issues with an ongoing business review, I don't know how long it's going to take and our business is taking a massive hit. We have clients that need our services but we're unable to see to their needs. I'd appreciate any help from anyone to fix this in good time, we're under massive pressure

I’m extremely disappointed with the level of customer service. My account has been in the compliance review process for over two weeks with little to no communication. When I do receive a response, new issues are raised each time, a process that can take 5 minutes to resolve takes weeks because of incompetence and the extremely long time they take to answer emails.

I am a South African merchant (Vamst Spa Equipment). A customer (Travis Green) paid R32,000 for equipment. I delivered the goods. He signed a waybill. He confirmed receipt on WhatsApp. He later emailed me confirming delivery. He filed a false chargeback claiming non-delivery. I won — the dispute was declined. But PayStack keeps reopening the same dispute. They have done this multiple times now. Each time I provide proof, they ask for something else. Now they want me to get the customer on a phone call. That is not my job. My account has been disabled for weeks. My payout of R30,858 is frozen. I have provided: · Signed waybill · WhatsApp confirmation · Email confirmation from the customer · Invoice · Supplier invoice · Proof of payment to supplier PayStack is protecting a ****mer instead of protecting me. Merchant ID: 1655113 Please help me get my account reactivated and my payout released

What a nightmarish experience with their payout. It seems as though they are incapable of handling large payouts. Waited over 7 days for payout and still waiting. We've lost out on next-orders and breached supply contracts because we were not receiving funds that are supposed to be paid out into "24-48 hours". It was our biggest mistake to sign up with them.

I HAVE SEEN LAST TWO DAY HOW DYSFUNCTIONAL this company. There was another review I did two days ago. Despite 67 email these people responded after extreme measure's I took and socially abused them on social media. I have had to use the social media person to communicate to the team to answer my messages. Ene this person needs to be fired. And if it's payouts whatever job she had it's useless. I do understand my shopping model despite having my own warehouse' in another country and shipping from supplier to UK, Australia, Nz was to drop cost to the client. And I understand they will be refunded. But to payout after 35 days to a company doing so well that barely can continue as they ordered more product and can't continue shipping over 3 weeks because of no funds received! These people have brought our company to its knees. No reply for many weeks then I need to start abusing them here. As if they are working against these negative comments. My account is deactivated. But I will not work with these people. It's been the worst three weeks of my company. Literally waking up in sweats how do I run the company. Plesse join another south African pay portal that has offices in south Africa. Can physically call you and get your funds and get someone to talk to and physically show them proof. I am going to let all my followers. They LIE . No phone calls ..they are indeed a black hole you won't be getting ur money! Cancel them out please!

Extremely poor service, no accountability, and zero communication after 6 weeks We app**** to activate our business on Paystack in mid-February 2026. What followed was one of the most frustrating and unprofessional experiences I have had with a financial service provider. The process started on 17 February 2026. Our contact, Janet from the Paystack Reviews team, asked us to provide a fully functioning website with relevant policies before they could proceed. Fair enough. We were still in development, so we communicated this honestly and asked whether the policies could be submitted via email in the meantime. The answer was no. The website had to be live first. We launched our website on 23 March 2026. We immediately notified Janet, who came back the next day asking for an NPO certificate, a signed constitution, and an executive member mandate, clearly having misread our business entirely. We are a registered for-profit technology company, not an NPO. We explained this clearly, outlined our business model in detail, and even offered to schedule a call to walk them through our structure. Janet's response on 24 March was a single generic line: the matter had been escalated to their "review escalation team" and we would hear back once the activation was completed. That was the last real response we received from Paystack. We followed up again on 26 March, 27 March, and 30 March, three emails in five days, with no reply whatsoever. Not even an automated acknowledgement. I also attempted to reach them by telephone. Nothing. By 1 April 2026, more than 6 weeks after our original application, I was forced to send a formal complaint stating that if we did not receive a definitive update by end of business the following day, we would consider our application cancelled, as we cannot partner with a provider that ignores its clients. Key issues: The activation process dragged on for over 6 weeks with no resolution. Paystack failed to properly assess our business type, requesting NPO documents for a registered for-profit company. After 24 March they went completely silent, with no responses to repeated follow-ups by email or phone. No SLA is communicated, there is no escalation path, and there is zero accountability. This is deeply disappointing for a payment provider operating in South Africa. We were genuinely excited about the integration and even raised the possibility of NGO-related preferential rates. Instead, we have been treated with complete indifference. If your business model is even slightly outside the ordinary, be warned. You may find yourself in a communication black hole with no support and no way forward.
