Nu Metro
Based on recent customer reviews, Nu Metro is drawing significant frustration from cinema-goers across multiple branches, particularly around VIP service expectations not aligning with premium pricing. Customers consistently mention disappointing food and snack experiences, including stale popcorn and forgotten orders, alongside recurring complaints about unresponsive management and poor complaint handling. A recurring theme is malfunctioning systems, from ticketing and refunds to 4DX equipment and screen quality. Positive feedback does emerge around specific standout staff members and the comfort of VIP recliner seating at certain locations like Canal Walk.

Very disappointed with the service received from Nu Metro the glen. After purchasing our movie tickets online, my partner and I bought a popcorn combo worth R220 at the self-service kiosk. The money was deducted from my account, but no popcorn slip printed. I was then told the transaction did not go through, despite showing proof of payment on my banking app. I provided everything requested from me — bank statements, card details, Apple Pay information, and personal information — yet I still have not received my refund. Someone from Nu Metro has reached out to me, but the issue still remains unresolved. What is frustrating is that I, as the client, have had to constantly follow up regarding my own money. At this point, it is not even so much about the money, but the principle behind it. As a customer, I should not have to repeatedly chase after a refund after already providing all the required proof and information. This entire experience has been exhausting and extremely disappointing over something that should have been resolved quickly and professionally. I would appreciate my refund being processed immediately.

I am writing to express my disappointment regarding the unacceptable service my friend and I received at the VIP section of New Metro Cinemas at Hyde Park Corner while watching The Devil Wears Prada. We specifically paid for a VIP cinema experience and expected premium service. Unfortunately, what we received was poor service, disorganization, and clear neglect as paying customers. Before the movie started (approximately 20 minutes prior), I placed an order for a bottle of wine and drumlets (or wings). The drinks and popcorn were delivered promptly, which initially gave the impression of good service. However, an entire hour passed and our food was never delivered. I eventually left the cinema to follow up on my order, only to be told by staff that they had forgotten about our order, could not remember our seat number, and that the wings were now out of stock. What is most disappointing is that staff apparently realized stock was unavailable only after the movie had already started, yet no one informed us. At the same time, there appeared to be a strong focus on catering to invited influencers attending the event, while regular paying VIP customers like ourselves were overlooked. This created the impression that paying customers were treated as less important. To resolve the issue, staff offered an alternative meal (a bowl of wings or beef)and I chose wings. Instead, after another long wait, I was brought two mini burgers that were undercooked, which I did not order. Staff then incorrectly claimed that I had said they could bring “anything available,” which is absolutely not what I agreed to. To make matters worse, when I later attempted to purchase another bottle of wine, I was told it was out of stock—despite the fridge appearing fully stocked earlier in the evening. This entire experience was frustrating, disappointing, and far below the standard expected from a VIP service for which we paid premium prices. As a paying customer, I expect: * Better communication regarding stock shortages * Orders to be managed correctly * Food served as ordered and properly cooked * Equal treatment of paying customers, regardless of influencer attendance * VIP service that reflects the premium amount charged I hope management takes this complaint seriously and addresses the poor service standards at this branch so that future customers do not experience the same disappointment. Sincerely, A very dissatisfied VIP customer

Absolutely unacceptable experience at Nu Metro Cavendish VIP. 20 minutes into Super Mario, a woman and three kids squeezed into seats around us (two people per seat), leaving my son and I cramped and uncomfortable, while they talked throughout the movie. Completely ruined the experience. When I raised this with the manager, Mr Rayern Maharaj, he was dismissive and claimed the cinema is not responsible for customer behaviour, and blamed me for not reporting it during the movie. That response alone is shocking for a “VIP” cinema. To make matters worse, head office simply backed him up and said this is the only response I’ll get. No accountability, no apology, no resolution. You charge premium prices but offer zero customer care when it matters. Sort this out

Nu metro ,menlyn ,ive put in a complaint to them directly, about our experience there ,they just send me from pillar to post ,to repost the complaint to a certain page ,which i did ,but never responded back, or acknowledged the complaint,it shows they dont feel anything, towards their customers . So its ok to have a terrible experience, which us supposed to be awesome, like they advertise.for such an expensive experience that where so pathetically poorly maintained, they can close their doors seriously.

Nu Metro at Canal Walk is always such a great cinema experience. The atmosphere is clean, modern, and welcoming, and the staff are friendly and professional. The cinemas are comfortable, the sound is amazing, and the overall vibe makes movie night feel special. Definitely one of my favourite places to relax and enjoy a good film.
