The disappointment is hard to handle when one spends a lot of money on an item. I purchase a couch from Hirshs, it was on sale about 18 months ago and the seats are now starting to sag and feel very uncomfortable and makes my back sore, I would have expected a couch to last way longer. I have asked Hirshs to replace this and they have said they will repair it! and it will take up to 10 days, my question is, was this couch was not constructed correctly in the first place?? and how will repairing it now after only 18 months ( I am the only person using it and its only at night to watch tv) help and secondly what do I do in the when the seats sag again after a fews months. I have suggested that they replace it with a different couch and I am very happy to pay the difference in price to get a better quality couch however it seems that Hirshs do not want to do that, I have purchased many, many items from Hirsh but this is the most expensive and should have lasted at leave 6 years, needless to say I will not recommend Hirshs for furniture.

The frustration is real. Took out extended warranty. Fridge breaks takes 5 days to pick it up. Told turnaround is quick should be 3 days to repair. In 3 days phone for another update. Pressure testing should be back in another 4 days. Call again after 4 days part has been ordered no timeline for repair. 2.5 weeks with no fridge and constantly having to request feedback. Why over promise and under deliver? It just creates frustration. Won't purchase from Hirschs again. And R500 as part of the warranty for spoiled food. We have spend R500 on ice alone in 2.5 weeks and much more on wasted food.

We have purchased quite a few major appliances from Hirsch's over the past couple of years and it has generally been a decent experience. But we purchased an Elba stove/oven from them at the end of the last year and they delivered a damaged unit with the glass lid damaged. Since then, they are supposedly attending to either repairing it or getting the right spare parts from Italy. This is becoming a series of excuses and they do not even bother providing feedback. They are proving to be just another franchise that is useless at any aftersale service.

I bought an Instant Pot from Hirsch’s mainly for the sous vide function. On three separate attempts, each lasting over three hours, the pot stayed on “Preheating” and never changed to “Sous Vide” mode. The water eventually reached boiling point, which clearly shows the temperature exceeded 100°C, yet the program still never activated correctly. I returned the pot to Hirsch’s, expecting either a replacement or refund. They refused because Instant Pot claimed the product tested fine. I was then asked to collect it. I was very reluctant, but I travelled to the store and insisted they test it in front of me before I accepted it back. The result? The exact same failure happened twice at the store while they were on a video call with Instant Pot support. Even after following all instructions, the pot remained stuck on “Preheating” and never switched to sous vide mode. Despite the unit failing three times at my home and twice in-store, Hirsch’s still refused to replace or refund it. I eventually told them to keep the pot because it is useless to me. This has been the worst experience I have had with a company. I am a pensioner and I feel I was treated very unfairly. I will not accept that pot back if they continue insisting there is nothing wrong with it.

We recently purchased a fridge from Hirsch’s in Edenvale, and unfortunately the after-sales experience has been nothing short of frustrating. Within just a few weeks, we noticed issues with the fridge door not closing properly, and the rubber seal was already damaged. An LG technician was sent out and confirmed the fault, advising that a report would be submitted to arrange a replacement. However, what followed was a complete breakdown in service: It took almost two weeks for LG to submit the technician’s report due to a lack of accountability. We had to follow up continuously just to get confirmation that the report had been sent. Once the report finally reached Hirsch’s, there has been absolutely no communication from their side. Emails are simply ignored, leaving us completely in the dark. This level of service is unacceptable—especially for a brand-new appliance. As a customer, you expect accountability, communication, and support when something goes wrong. Sadly, both LG and Hirsch’s have failed on all fronts. I will not be purchasing from Hirsch’s again, nor will I consider LG products in the future if this is the level of service customers can expect.
