This is now three months since Car Service City North Riding seized my engine, and they have done nothing to fix their error. The manager is nowhere to be found, we are in a hopeless situation and to top it all off, the response I received after laying a complaint is “we’ll wait to see what the ombudsman says”. Inhumane, awful and abhorrent company.

I brought my car for service and when I collected it it was making noise in the engine when I returned it they said maybe the oil is still settling but the problem persisted and took it to the mechanic and found out that they did not add oil after service and damaged my pistons

I am absolutely disgusted by the way Car Service City North Riding has handled my vehicle and this entire situation. I received an engine warning on my car and immediately took it to Car Service City to have the oil-related issue checked and repaired. I did the responsible thing by taking the vehicle in as soon as the warning appeared, trusting that my car would be in professional hands. I was told that I would be able to collect my car three days later. Three days passed with no proper update. A few more days went by, still with no communication, so I eventually had to call them myself. I was then told that I could collect the car at 3pm. Then, at around 2pm that same day, they contacted my husband and told him that they had driven the car and the engine had seized. The fully functional car I took in for an engine warning and oil issue was now completely undrivable while in their care. They then told my husband that the vehicle would need an engine overhaul, but that we would have to pay for them to remove the engine and inspect what had broken. This is despite the fact that the engine seized while the car was with them. They also claimed that the problem was caused by whoever had serviced the car previously. The shocking part? Car Service City are the only people who have ever serviced my car. We made it clear that, in our view, the responsibility sits with them. The vehicle was in their possession, they drove it, and the engine seized while under their care. Instead of taking accountability or assisting us properly, they refused. Then, two weeks later, my husband went to collect my undrivable car, only to find the engine removed from the vehicle and taken apart. What exactly was being done to my engine? At no point has this situation been handled with the level of communication, care, professionalism, or accountability that any customer should expect. Months have now passed since the start of this awful ordeal, and we are still left with a broken car, no proper resolution, and no willingness from Car Service City to fix what happened while the vehicle was in their care. I took my car in because of a warning light. I left with a seized engine, an undrivable vehicle, and months of stress. Please, please think carefully before taking your vehicle to Car Service City. Based on my experience, I would not recommend them to anyone.

I am extremely disappointed with the service and handling of my vehicle by Car Service City Linden Randburg. My vehicle was fully drivable when it was booked in for a routine service. The car was driven to the branch without any starting issues, and staff even drove the vehicle themselves for testing before any work was to be carried out. After agreeing on the work to be done, I later received a call stating that the vehicle would no longer start when they attempted to begin the service. I was informed multiple times that staff had repeatedly attempted to jump-start and push-start the vehicle without success. Following this, I requested a diagnostic report. During discussions with my father, staff also denied certain actions and gave conflicting explanations regarding attempts made on the vehicle. The matter was escalated to the complaints department, after which I received another diagnostic report completed two days later. The report stated that multiple electronic and communication-related fault codes were already present before work commenced and that these faults could lead to a no-start condition. However, this explanation does not change the fact that my vehicle arrived at the branch in working condition and was able to start and drive normally beforehand. I have since been left with a vehicle that no longer starts and now has serious electronic/ECU-related issues. An independent qualified person has also confirmed that the damage and resulting issues are consistent with improper handling and actions taken while the vehicle was in the branch’s care. I find it unacceptable that I entrusted my vehicle to Car Service City Randburg for a routine service and received it back in a far worse condition than when it arrived. Instead of accountability, I have experienced conflicting information, denial of responsibility, and ongoing inconvenience. I am requesting that Car Service City Randburg take responsibility for the damages caused and provide a proper resolution to this matter.

Car Service City Kempton Park — Incomplete Service, Dishonest Communication On 2 May 2026, I brought my car in for a standard service and a brake light bulb replacement. I was called the same day to collect it — allegedly done. Two days later, my cluster was still flagging the brake light and service reminder as outstanding. When I called, I was told it just needed a reset. I brought it back. During that visit, the engine light had also come on — a new development. On the second visit, I was told my car has an "electrical fault" causing bulbs to burn out, but that they had in fact replaced it on Saturday. The mechanic replaced it again, stating it would burn out again. Within 5km of leaving, both the service and engine lights came on again. On the third visit, the story changed entirely — I was now told the engine light fault pre-existed the service and was not their problem. I was also told about a supposed diagnostic process where pre-existing faults are cleared, the service is done, and if faults return the customer is informed. None of this happened. I was never informed of anything. Here's what doesn't add up: The bulb the mechanic said would "burn immediately" is still working — suggesting it was never replaced on the first visit. The engine light only appeared after they worked on the car. The oil looks dirty — raising serious doubt about whether the service was carried out at all. I paid for a service I cannot confirm was done, a bulb replacement I have reason to believe wasn't done the first time, and I've made three trips to resolve problems that originated at their workshop. The shifting explanations and changing accounts are unacceptable. I want a full, written breakdown of what was done on 2 May, confirmation of what parts were replaced, and a resolution — not another reset.

Took the car in for a minor engine issue, the guys at braamfontein Mike and them gave a quote of almost 30k. Bought the parts and paid for them labour and service and the car still has same issue. About to take legal action at this point.

After being a loyal customer at the Car Service City Clearwater branch, without any complaints, my recent experience has been the most shocking and terrible service I have EVER received. I sent my car for service on 11 April 2026. After collecting my car, the engine mounting was not fitted properly and I had to take it back several times to get it fixed. That got sorted out and I thanked them for it. However, there was a knocking sound on my brakes whenever I slowed down using the brakes. I went back to Car Service City and brought it up. The excuse I was given was "my guys did not touch the breaks. The sound is from the brakes getting exposed to rain water." The reason made no sense. Because I became weary of any of their mechanics touching my car, I had another mechanic check it out. Only then was it discovered that the brake caliper bolts on both sides were MISSING!!! Please understand how dangerous this is because I am driving with my young child in the car. No one wanted to take accountability for this ***** up!!! My husband went back to Car Service City and ***ed out the manager who still denied that this was their mistake!!!! ***??? I can appreciate the work on some things that they did. But I do not appreciate the lack of accountability of messing one of the essential components of a vehicles that puts you between life and death!!!! For the money I paid, this is completely unacceptable workmanship. Car Service City Clearwater will not be seeing me again and I call on any person to not take their car there for ANYTHING. It's not worth the hassle.
