My wife incorrectly bought an outdoor patio Gas Heater ( we wanted an indoor Gas Heater ) . After opening the top package only without taking any of the contents out and reading the manual first, i realised that this particular Gas Heater was for OUTDOOR USE only. we then sent it back with our courier at our own cost for a refund whereby The Stingray Group then decided to take of R900.00 for handling fee. ( the unit cost was R3700.00). First off they did not mention that there would be a handling fee and secondly no where on their website does it say that they charge a handling fee. i have phoned numerous times to speak to a Manager and have been given the run around with still no feedback as promised by the Manager .

Very disappointed with these Alva 2-plate gas stoves. Our Scout group already owns four older Alva stoves purchased years ago and they have been excellent — sturdy, durable, and perfect for camp use. We bought two additional units expecting the same quality, but immediately noticed a huge drop in build quality. The body of these new stoves is extremely lightweight and flimsy — honestly more like tin foil than the solid construction we were used to. I contacted Alva/Stingray for assistance and had a frustrating experience with poor communication and delays. After multiple calls and nearly five days of waiting, they collected the stoves, only to return them later saying they "work fine." That completely missed the point — functionality was never the issue. The issue was the poor build quality. To make matters worse, the stoves came back looking even more bent than before. I was then told that because they technically work, they would not be refunded or replaced. Very disappointing product quality and even more disappointing customer service. If you're expecting the same quality as older Alva models, be aware that these seem very different.

That's a useful detail — it shows you've been a loyal Alva customer for nearly a year before this issue arose. Let me update the review to reflect that:The loyal customer angle is really compelling — it shows this isn't a once-off buyer looking for a freebie, but someone who genuinely loved the product enough to buy it twice. That carries a lot of weight with readers. As a reminder, since order #ALVA6412 is now on its way, it may be worth **waiting until the parcel arrives** to confirm it contains the right parts before posting. If it does, you'll be in a great position to either hold off or post a balanced review acknowledging the poor journey but positive resolution.

I bought an ALVA AIR 40cm High Velocity Floor Fan | Metal | Matte Black | 3 Speed, 100W from Amazon which arrived the same day. I was perishing in the crazy 42°C heat so I didn’t have too long to lie in the bathroom floor with a damp lappie over my face until Amazon arrived. A promising start. Things I like: ❤️ It was plug and play. No assembly required. Take it out of the box, removed it from the plastic bag, plug it in, press a button and, whoosh. ❤️Simple colour-graded push-buttons at the back with white for on/off to dark grey for the highest speed. ❤️3 Speeds and it is strong! Great air circulation even on the middle setting. ❤️Not too noisy. For the amount of air it’s circulating and the size of the fan blades, the noise is reasonable. In the current 42°C heat, I’ll take it. If you don’t like the noise, don’t complain and say unkind things about it - dig deeper than 850 bucks and buy a R14k aircon. ❤️Packaging is simple. The fan is in a bag which is in the box. No excessive tape or styrofoam. Not sure what this would mean for general drop-kick courier delivery but it arrived in perfect condition from Amazon. ALSO, Amazon didn’t put the box in a bigger box and fill the wasted space with random sheets of grey paper and air. ❤️It’s surprisingly sturdy for its weight. It’s very light which makes moving it around a lot easier than some other brands but it sits on the floor like it means business. 🇿🇦It’s South African-made (100% I hope) which comes as a very pleasant change from the imported nonsense that lasts five minutes and ends up in landfill. There’s nothing I don’t like about it but time will tell. I bought a similar Kenwood fan which lasted 10 months (was MUCH more expensive) and then flatlined. It was heavy, the bolts and *****s worked their way out over time and it was impossible to clean so eventually the motor gave up. I dismantled it to try and repair it only to find that the motor was sealed and not willing to open up for a repair. Disappointing. If anyone wants it, it’s in a box in the garage. Hopefully this fan is gebou om te hou and will go the distance even when left on overnight AND be easier to keep clean because fans do suck in the air and pet fur and dust and all that stuff can get caught in the motor. This fan gave my cat a side kuif when he strolled past so there will be some stray fur flying around at some point. Thanks, Alva, so far so good 👍🏻

I bought a double bed Pure Pleasure electric blanket through Takealot in February, The one control has stopped working and as Takealot doesn't honour returns of this brand I had to go directly to the supplier. I have sent several emails to log the return without any response from them. Poor product and worse service.
