Dell Computers
Based on recent customer reviews, Dell Computers is facing significant dissatisfaction from South African customers, with a recurring theme centred on warranty disputes and unresponsive after-sales support. Customers consistently mention difficulty reaching technical support, with calls dropping or looping bots, and frustration when components like keyboards, screens, chargers and ports are deemed not covered despite active warranty periods. Many longstanding Dell users express disappointment that build quality has deteriorated. While an isolated voice praised swift onsite screen replacement, the overwhelming sentiment reflects feelings of being abandoned post-purchase.

I bought a Dell monitor on Takealot in Feb 2026 which has a manufacturer warranty. It suddenly stopped connecting to my device. I tried other cables with no luck. I spent hours engaging with Dell via their sms service (you can’t speak to a person) and they sent me another monitor. This too doesn’t connect to my devices and now Dell tell me they’re sending me a 3rd one. They won’t give me refund or upgrade the acreen. Each engagement with Dell is hours of energy on my part and they just make it so difficult to engage. Don’t ever buy Dell products!

I am a staunch Dell supporter and have been using a Dell laptop for the past 15 years. Although the laptop itself is a wonderful product, the Dell Customer support has been automated, resulting in utter chaos. I have been trying to get the keyboard on my laptop replaced. However, everything happens online. If you try calling customer support, you end up talking to an AI bot somewhere in the cloud, or a customer support agent somewhere in the East. After numerous challenges, I eventually managed to secure a quotation without too much trouble. I also managed to get a purchase order from my company. When I thought the repair was only a week away, I tried to order it, only to be told by a bot that either the company does not have a Premier account or I am not registered on the account. So, I am stuck. My company cannot assist, despite days spent struggling to engage with Dell Technical Support. With this lack of human support, I will certainly not buy another Dell laptop.

I bought a Dell I7 laptop from Dell less than a year ago which cost just under R20 000. It is still under warranty. It seems that I may have closed my screen on my soft notepad so there was a slight Crack on the screen. I struggled to get hold of Dell support which is AI generated. I booked it into a company to do an evaluation. They opened the laptop and imagine theirs and my shock when it was discovered that the motherboard was damaged. Wow...is Dell laptops so fragile.one would think I dropped the laptop from a 10 storey building which I didn't do. Dell stated the cost to repair is over R9000 and it is not covered under warranty. I am so disappointed and will never buy a Dell laptop again. It was a waste of money. I had a demo acer slimline laptop for over 12 years which I had accidentally dropped multiple times and it still worked. Thought it was time for an upgrade but regret my decision

I purchased an Inspiron 16 Plus 7620 laptop on 11 February 2023 (Dell Purchase ID: 2009483519681, total $1,642.40 USD) with Premium Support. Dell’s own support portal still clearly shows Service Tag BCK8GS3 with Premium Support active until 16 February 2027. However, because their system automatically deletes invoices older than 2 years, support is now refusing to assist me. They are dismissing my original order confirmation screenshots as “not invoices” and sending me in circles. I have paid for a multi-year service agreement that is still showing as active on their website, yet they will not honour it. This is completely unacceptable and a blatant breach of the Consumer Protection Act. Dell South Africa — fix this or at least stop pretending you stand behind your warranties.

Didn't honour warranty and gave me some BULL S I damaged my Lap Top screen casing which developed a hair crack on the outer casing. Both the Retailer and Dell will never see me again. Also, how is this for a customer centric / collaborative approach to dealing with customers (Now ex). "If you change your email address, you will lose access to your order history, software licenses, subscriptions, and device registration history"

Poor quality of chargers I recently got a new charger after the old one was peeling from the insert point and the wires were exposed. The replaced new chargers tip was loose and eventually broke and now i have to pay for a new charger. Having used DELL before ,it seems the quality has deteriorated and that may b e on purpose to boost sales in replacing of laptop chargers. Would not advice anyone on a dell machine as the laptop charger quality are not the best and constantly need to be replaced. Please consider ensuring that you provide quality products so customers get value for money. Most adults including myself are not negligent, we take care of our gadgets and computer equipment ,however cheap and substandard quality products don't make anything easy!

After two years of normal use, the screen on my Dell Inspiron has split. It seems that Dell quality has deteriorated, because my wife has had two Dells over the past 15 years, each with no problem. A friend in the trade said it was not properly glued or just cheap plastics, or both. It's sad to see another "American" company's quality get so bad. I sent photos to Dell, but they refused to help.

I purchased a Dell Keyboard and Mouse combo set from Tarsus. The keyboard is broken mechanically. I reported it to Tarsus and they would not help and said I must phone Dell. I called Dell and they where not helpful and got cut off and the Dell Website does not offer a place to log a Ticket for this product. This keyboard failed in 6 months not even the cheapest keyboards fail like this.
