Based on recent customer reviews, Remax is drawing significant criticism across multiple branches in South Africa, with customers consistently mentioning poor communication, ignored messages, and unresponsive agents. A recurring theme is frustration with rental management, including delayed deposit refunds, unresolved maintenance issues, and problematic tenant placements that leave landlords financially exposed. Several reviewers describe feeling abandoned after transactions conclude. On the positive side, isolated experiences highlight professional, accommodating agents who facilitated quick sales and guided first-time buyers through the process with attentive, hands-on support from listing through transfer.

Been trying to contact their office line Remax One Waterfall but their landline never works. Then their agents ignore you when you message them for a viewing. You get blue ticked on WhatsApp and get ignored. What’s the point of advertising rentals when you ignore possible tenants!!!!! TERRIBLE SERVICE!!!!!

I am dealing with Remax Clanwilliam, an agent who assisted me [cannot mention names - Popia act] with renting my home out in Crystal Waters Clanwilliam on the 15th July 2025. The tenant [we will refer to him as SS] moved in and has been one massive problem. The estate agent handed the paperwork and met with SS. Since October 2025, SS has not paid 1 cent towards the rent or the municipal service bill. I am in arrears with my bond. I tried to log this complaint with the Rental Housing Tribunal. Only to find that SS's ID was never received, and I cannot proceed to log the complaint. I am not in the financial position to hire a lawyer and wanted the Rental Housing Tribunal's help. This situation is dire; SS has no plans to pay rent or move and has made it very clear that, without a court order, he will not vacate the property, nor will he pay rent. The estate agent cannot get a copy of the ID. The estate agent has apparently been dealing with Remax lawyers about the situation. Simply put, I will lose my only home due to this situation. I would expect REMAX to assist me; they must have lawyers who are equipped to attend to such matters. Get the process started for the court order as soon as possible. I am running around, trying to get information to no avail. Time is not on my side. I think whoever reads this can put themselves in my shoes and think hell should REMAX, not man up and step in, why is she having to deal with the tenant??? [email protected] AS [email protected]

I honestly don't understand how Remax works. The delays with getting back your deposit is such an inconvenience. My brother is forced to move out without getting his deposit back, and now is being sent from pillar to post. The Renax agent asked a long time ago if he would be renewing his lease of which he responded and told them no, at the end of January. Now all of the sudden ge is being told that getting his deposit takes 3-4 weeks. They were aware that he is moving out at the end of January, 8 weeks has passed. How must he pay rent of the other place?

Remax Lydenburg is the worst nevertheless service I got from their estate agents even manager was the worst. Don't ever let the best your property agent. They don't care if you property is well maintained or the tenant is paying rent. LORRAINE shell only follow up when u ask. Worse even their manager will ignore the landlords complains. They kept a tenant who didn't pay rent or clean the house... now she didn't even pay January rent. I asked Lorraine who will be paying for the January rent she didn't respond. When I asked them to give md the deposit so I can clean & fix my property they refused. Later they decided they'll pan me the deposit as Jan rent but gues what till today its not paid over to me... please do not take your property to Remax Lydenburg a agent. Do not...

I offered a listing to Suzette in Featherbrook, Krugersdorp and she never even bothered to phone! Is she independently wealthy or just unprofessional and unreliable. I really don't understand?

In November 2025 I was interested in a flat called Markjan in Randfontein. I spoke to a lady called Sonya from Remax Randfontein, I wanted to view the flat and she told me I had to pay R400 for screening before viewing. Asked her what if I won’t like it after viewing but she told me it’s stand procedure. She promised me that once the money is paid she will schedule a viewing with me. I then paid with the hope that I would atleast view the place but to my surprise I am the one who kept calling them about the progress until weeks later when I was told that I had failed screening and won’t be able to view the place. I was on the market for flats at the time and it was my first time hearing about paying or screening before viewing. I had viewed several flats and did screening none of them failed.
