I had a very disappointing experience using Bark.com. All of the leads I received so far were poor quality, and several of the contact details provided did not even exist or were unreachable. Despite paying extremely high prices for leads, the majority were either unresponsive, not genuinely interested, or impossible to contact. Another major issue is how the leads are advertised on the platform. The headline of the lead often shows services that match what your business offers, but when you read further into the client’s comments or requirements, they are actually requesting completely different services. This means you cannot even properly respond to or service those leads. Most of the leads I received were like this, which I found very misleading and deceptive. The platform is extremely expensive for the level of quality delivered, and the overall return on investment was very poor. I also found customer support unhelpful when I raised concerns about lead quality and invalid contact information. Refund requests were repeatedly refused, even after I explained what the law states and shared links to the relevant legislation. Despite this, I received multiple push backs and refusals instead of meaningful assistance or resolution. Based on my experience, I would strongly advise businesses and freelancers to be cautious before spending money on Bark leads.

Complaint: I am the Director of a professional catering business that has been using Bark.com as a lead generation platform. Over a single reporting period we have purchased more than 25 leads and have experienced a consistent, systemic pattern of failures that has cost our business significant time, money, and resource. Lead quality failures experienced: Customers who had already appointed another supplier before we made contact, yet the lead remained live and marked as urgent on the platform Customers who confirmed within minutes of our outreach that their event was cancelled or that they had made alternative arrangements Leads marked as both "urgent" and "planning and researching" simultaneously — two directly contradictory designations used to sell the lead and then deny the refund A lead where the customer was recorded as being in Midrand when she was in fact based in Rustenburg, North West Province — a different province entirely, confirmed by her own company website and a direct telephone call Leads with bounced email addresses Leads with landline-only contact numbers, preventing WhatsApp contact A funeral catering lead for up to 199 guests, marked "ready to hire now", contacted six times across email, WhatsApp, and telephone over nine days — with zero response Approximately 90% of leads purchased on this account have produced no engagement whatsoever across any channel Bark's complaints process: Every single dispute — regardless of the specific circumstances, the evidence provided, or the arguments raised — has been met with the same copy-paste template response. The same paragraph has been sent across more than 25 tickets. In one instance, a response was addressed to "Hello The" — confirming the ticket had not been read at all. Where credits have been returned, it has only been after multiple rounds of formal escalation, detailed written arguments, and explicit threats of external complaints. Bark's own written responses have acknowledged that lead quality errors occur, that planning-stage leads carry low conversion likelihood, and that the urgent designation reflects customer-reported time sensitivity — yet these same acknowledgements have been used to deny refunds on tickets where the facts are identical to those where refunds were approved. The core issue: Bark charges suppliers for introductions. Bark charges no one else in this transaction. When a lead fails — regardless of the reason — Bark keeps the credits. There is no accountability, no genuine quality standard, and no functioning complaints process. Suppliers bear 100% of the financial risk of every failed lead while Bark profits from the volume regardless of outcome. We have spent more time and resource disputing failed leads than converting genuine ones. That is not a sustainable platform and it is not what was sold to us. What we are requesting: A senior review of all open disputes on this account, a consolidated response addressing each case on its merits, and credit returns where the evidence clearly supports them. All disputes have been logged under internal escalation ticket 21634477. We have also filed a detailed review on Trustpilot and are engaging relevant consumer protection bodies.

As our Bosch dishwasher suddenly does not drain water, I googled: ‘Bosch dishwasher repair near me’, and Bark.com came up. I entered all my details and was contacted by a certain Simba. He whattsapp-ed me and asked the address. He communicated a time. I opened our house. They inspected the dishwasher and said that it needed repairs. It showed an E-19 code. He said their business was in Bellville. After one and a half days I was whattsapp-ed the Invoice. I paid R4400 and sent proof of payment to his email address ([email protected]). The icon on his whattsapp shows Clearline Appliances. The dishwasher was returned on Saturday, 16 May. Nothing was repaired as the dishwasher still shows the E-19 code. Simba does not answer to his whattsapps, and also does not answer his cell phone. I googled Clearline Appliances and googlemaps directed me to Appliance Repair Centre, Bellville. I drove there. Wrong business. I drove to 35 Avondale Street, Bellville, the address on the Invoice but discovered it a private house. The lady had no idea. I feel cheated, ******, and utterly frustrated…

As a seller, I signed up with Bark.com purchased 60 credits at a large expense. Since I could get a credit refund after none of my leads hired me I did a refund only for them to tell me "refunds only available to Elite Pro Members". So now they want me to spend more money only to get credits back to spend on leads that doesn't hire. A complete waste of time and money. I can't find the "Delete my account" setting so I just set all their notifications to the "off" setting so they don't fill my inbox with spam. Also set their email to my spam box so I'll never receive them.

Warning about using Advance Security listed on Bark with rating 5 (questionable). I can not believe that is the actual rating. The owner of Advance Security quoted me on installing and relocating security cameras. A few of the cameras have distorted video and he promised to fixed but never did. Before easter weekend I received a message from owner begging for money to take his family on holiday for the long weekend. I felt it was very unprofessional since he did not feel like working that day. If he worked that day before the long weekend, I would have paid him the balance of the quote. He also quoted on electric fence maintenance for me. I paid him R4500 deposit and since then he has been making excuses every day but has not been back since then (a week ago) Last time I saw him he explained that his ladder was ****** due to him drinking in a pub and not 'realizing' he had his ladder strapped on his car??? Anyway I lent him my ladder and now he is using MY LADDER on other jobs but does not have time to start work on the electric fence. Please be careful using bark contractors. This is not the first time I have had a VERY VERY bad experience with contractors listed on BARK Hey BARK team, who is the admin of the listed contractors' reviews? Why is my very hones review of Advance Security not available on his space on BARK?

These guys are the worst. They kept milking me for more material that were not on the quote. They took 4 days, instead of 3 until I threatened them with the law. I have camera footage, videos and photos to prove how shockingly poor the quality of their work and work ethic is. The floors are not level and tiles are not straight. You can even feel the unevenness of the actual tiles when you walk. There was too much wastage of material that was lying all over my property. And when they tried to change the labour fees on the quote, I did not agree and that resulted in them pouring the remaining cement down my drains. I don't understand how they could be listed as a supplier on this site.
