So we have an authorisation for a hospital admission for my son on the 19th of March 2026, yet every account from the hospital, doctors, radiologist, etc, you just are not paying. I have already phoned to escalate none payment of certain accounts and now I see you ARE STILL NOT PAYING OUT OF THE HOSPITAL BENEFIT AND NOW YOU HAVE NOT PAID FOR THE HOSPITAL NOW ASWELL. How many times must claims be reprocessed or escalated for things to be sorted, why can't this process run smoothly. We already experienced such bad treatment at the hospital when my son was admitted and now this, horrible service from you that is causing unnecessary anxiety. SORT YOUR CLAIM PROCESS OUT AND PAY THE DAMN CLAIMS ALREADY!!!
You really deserve a ZERO star. My son was admitted to Paed’s ward today. First issue was the lack of communication and my son who needed to have a Lung Function Test never received it due to zero communication between departments and he had then been sent for Xray, when the Lung Function was now wanting him, instead of things being switched around, we lost that appointment. And Lung Function Doctor isn’t there now tomorrow, which is Friday. Bedding in Paed’s ward is a joke. You don’t have sufficient bedding on the patients beds, very thin blanket, no thick duvet to keep a child warm, nothing that is cotton that is gentle on kids skin, especially for Eczema skin. Then you expect parents to sleep on Lazy Boys (the one by my son’s bed that I tried to open, I have actually hurt my shoulder from trying to open it, so thanks for that and the pain I’m in) and the one by his bed landed up being faulty. 😡 After complaining, they brought another chair, but how must one sleep on these stupid chairs when they don’t lock open, so when you move, they start collapsing, how must you sleep on it. No bedding was offered to me as the parent, I had asked for a blanket earlier in the day that as soon as I put it onto my skin, it started making my skin itch. I asked for another blanket which was as thin as anything, still not cotton like I needed and asked for. No sheets were provided for the Lazy Boy so you are laying on the dreadful germ filled fabric, no pillows for parents, NOTHING. Parents are an after thought when it comes to bed time and getting a comfortable nights sleep especially if they are spending a few days in hospital and needing their energy and to feel rested. The one nurse said, oh some parents land up sleeping with their kids, so now the patient can’t sleep well because of sharing a bed on a squished bed. I booked us out today after 22:20 due to not being able to handle any more of this bad treatment from Netcare. We went even given my son’s asthma pump and nose spray which medical aid will have paid for and my son used this evening in hospital. So now you have kept that. 😡 Some of the staff like Mandy were lovely, but the rest of the staff were not extremely friendly. This has been the worst Paed’s experience at any hospital that we have ever had. Mediclinic at least care about their patients and the parents, proper cot beds, bedding. I will make sure we never visit a Netcare facility again for any medical treatment .
This is surely the WORST MEDICAL AID ever. If you value your sanity, STAY FAR AWAY form this bunch of *********** people. My husband was admitted to hospital in December from the Emergency Room, yet they refuse to pay for the Emergency Room visit and the hospital account that comes with it. MY HUSBAND COULD HARDLY BREATH AND HAD SEVERE CHEST PAIN AND NEEDED URGENT MEDICAL TREATMENT!!! He was so bad that they admitted him. Pneumonia had been suspected, and he was admitted to hospital for 4 days. Below is Medihelp's own words that ER visits will be covered if one is admitted: "The medical scheme will only consider benefits if the patient visits the facility as a result of an emergency/trauma as confirmed by the attending general practitioner, and is admitted to the hospital or if the patient receives a recognised medical procedure at the emergency facility." They have refused to pay this account, the managers are useless and uncaring, the staff just don't care. Medihelp does not care about their clients and my husband will now be canceling this useless medical aid. So basically you need urgent medical care and they can't be bothered to pay for it. This medical aid is overpriced and quite frankly a joke.
Why when I am so sick do I have to phone Discovery numerous times , wasting all my minutes and then having to buy airtime, to sort out claims for when my son WAS IN HOSPITAL that weren't paid or partially paid. There are over 3 claims that have had to be reassessed. But why is this my stress when your claims team can't read properly. THEN, I have a claim that was short paid by over 2k when I was admitted to hospital on 04/11/2024. And to top my day off, you rejected my PMB after my Physician sent the form, diagnosis codes and blood tests showing I have an issue but because of one test done when I was in the ER after being dehydrated and throwing up, you declined my application for Iron deficiency, which is making me hardly function daily and being so fatigued. Thanks a lot for the additional stress and for not doing your jobs properly.
Discovery doesn’t care about PmB conditions that can kill you. They are refusing to pay my Epipen in full, yet last year they did. They want to pay a measly R250.00 out of R1100 it’s supposed to be paid in FULL it’s a PMB! I have auth numbers, the letter that says 2 epipens a year. I have been on the phone nearly an hour with no joy. If I die, what are you going to tell my children? This is utterly disgusting, Discovery!!!
I saw a phone on your website which I wanted to do an early upgrade too, it was also in your pamphlet. When I eventually get to speak to an agent, after the call centre put down on me TWICE, I get told that it is an error and there is no such phone, yet you advertise it and I can order it online (which I can't do as I need help with an early upgrade). So you have ads that are falsified and incorrect. AVOID MTN, they are the worst.
In July my husband needed to have a surgery done, which was not a planned procedure. He was in emergency on the Friday and the Saturday morning they decided they needed to operated. According to our gap cover, this all was supposed to be a PMB, and you should have settled it yet you refuse to pay the FULL doctors accounts. The doctors sent all required documents to you. Your staff even agreed that it was a pmb. Kidney stones! You are really full of s*** when it comes to claims and have given us nothing but a hard time. We will be terminating our memberships with you very soon. Sort this out ASAP!!!!
I purchased a pair of shoes at their Stikland outlet shop, the shoes didn’t even last 4 months and were only worn a few times, the sole came loose. The store refused to take the shoes back, I had the slip and box. Even the staff at your store say the stock there is sh**y! I was given the managers number and he does not answer. This goes against the CPA! I am very disappointed and angry at this. I have wasted money.
Please stay away! The Dino Expo is a scammer. The show in Cape Town was postponed, we have been waiting since July 2022 to get a refund. Emailing them is useless. I am being ignored on Facebook Messenger, sometimes if they reply, as soon as you mention anything regarding your refund, they ignore you. They have ignored numerous messages from us. All I want is my money back.
So, Discovery are more than happy to leave my four year old child with a scar on his face caused by trauma from a dog bite which is a PMB, and is an open wound. They are giving us nothing but grief and turning down an operation that will help the scar to stop contracting and causing further issues on his face. You are more than happy to take my money every month but when we need this surgery, you decline. You are such a heartless company.
