Given the run around regarding hearing aids
I had a glossectomy in April 2024 and radiation treatment for tongue cancer; subsequently, my eyesight and hearing have been adversely affected. to the point where there have been complaints regarding the pitch of my voice at work. I need hearing aids and have been begging for this medical aid since November 2025, but they keep moving the goalposts. I am sick and tired of being given the run around. I do not know of anyone my age that would willingly want hearing aids unless it was very necessary. Umvuzo is becoming a huge dissappointment to me

Awful experience
Following my biopsy I was referred to Johann Kluge, appointment was 9 April at 15:45 I waited for him for 4 hours, the consultation took at least 1 hour and he explained and drew a diagram of exactly what they his team was going to do...also mentioned that they were not ***boys his done many surgeries like this a glossectomy and removal of the cancerous part of my tongue to be replaced with tissue, veins and arteries from my leg. I asked him how I would communicate and he said I would be provided with a white board to write on and I should not concern myself I would be able to communicate effectively, till this day I am still waiting for that whiteboard. I saw his colleague plastic surgeon Ben Moodie who had informed me that for the first 4 days while I was in a coma I would be restrained. As not to pull out any pipes. However when I woke up from the coma I was still in restraints when I asked why no one would tell me. I was there in Cintocare for my health so there was no way that I intended to sabotage myself or my health. When my husband Tom Boer visited me the first time and asked the sister why I was being restrained there was no explanation, he left his phone number with two different nursing sisters and twice with Dr Kluge's receptionist his phone number and that of my daughter was on file no one called him or contacted my daughter. My husband told the sister that restraining me is going to causing me greater anxiety I am not sure if he told he I had been brutally ****d at the age of 21 years old tied up and and foot ****d 4 times, bitten open and knifed in my ****** but he would have told Dr Kluge if he had bothered to call him. They kept me in restraints from 18 April until approximately 13 May 2024. I was in another ward for two days before being discharged. After Dr Siebert Wiid asked me why I had a TMI when I woke up from the coma and I told him that the restraints scared the **** out of me and why, two hours later Dr Kluge asked me the exact same question and I was unrestrained and moved to another ward. Following my operation I had my care moved to Eugene Marais Hospital for the radiation treatment. My tongue they implanted in my mouth is too big so I have bitten the flap the swelling never went down significantly ...perhaps they should have measured twice and cut once, there is a growth under the old side of my tongue and where these fine surgeons of Cintocare joined my new tongue to the old one there is a gap where my finger can fit in. I have lost 22 kg's to date I cannot eat normal food, I am in constant pain and discomfort. Since they made sure they exhausted my medical aid I want Dr Johann Kluge to pay for my corrective procedures - The Health Professionals council of South Africa (HPSCA) firmly states that every individual has the ‘right to a healthy and safe environment whilst at the same time stating every individual has the right to ‘participate in the decision-making’ of their own health-related treatment. As stated previously, the restraining of patients clearly breaches a patient’s autonomy as well as contradicts what the HPSCA guidelines, despite being in the patient’s best interest. There was a previous study done by UWC regarding the restraining of patients 28% survive. I have been in both private and public hospitals and have never experienced this kind of disregard for the patient.

Lack of service and empathy for clients
I am completely gutted at the level of non-service in the City of Tshwane. Saturday 25 I paid this account in full, because it registered as arrears at Pick ‘n Pay and my bank ABSA I wasted an additional R300. So this account should be credited with R300 but alas it has been blocked after receiving a confirmationary email from the municipality on Saturday 25 November 2017. It is now Monday 27 November 2017 I cannot buy electricity because this meter has been blocked?? The due date is 20 November 2017 who gets paid then?? I have spent this morning on the phone to both my bank and the City but no joy?! What is happening when you pay your service bills but received no consideration!!!??? The bank was absolutely no help at all and the call centre agent Griffith lacked empathy and had a absolutely foul attitude.

No Service at all
