OPPO South Africa
Based on recent customer reviews, OPPO South Africa is facing significant dissatisfaction from its customer base. Customers consistently mention device performance issues including overheating, slow operating systems, rapid battery drain, and intrusive advertisements within native apps. A recurring theme is frustration with after-sales support, with many feeling ignored when seeking assistance or repairs. Promotional disputes around undelivered free smartwatches and declined warranty claims for water damage further erode trust. While a standout compliment recognises helpful in-store staff at Walmer Park, the overall tone reflects disappointment from previously loyal buyers.

I am deeply disappointed with the corporate deflection and severe administrative bottlenecks from Telkom and OPPO South Africa regarding my premium business device, the OPPO Reno13 (Job No: TRJ204489). As a loyal brand advocate who has brought multiple family members to OPPO, I upgraded specifically based on the heavily marketed water-resistance features of the Reno13 series. Well before the 6-month mark, the device suffered a baseline failure from standard environmental exposure. OPPO and Telkom are now attempting to hide behind a generic "liquid damage" exclusion to void the warranty, offering a token "goodwill" gesture to pay a portion of an insurance excess. This is a direct violation of the imp**** warranty of quality and fitness for purpose under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA). If a product is explicitly sold on the strength of a specialized feature, that protection must persist as a core function of its lifespan. Furthermore, the service infrastructure at Telkom has been highly unprofessional. This week, my backup device was left at a branch for a basic log entry, which took an astronomical 52 hours to process due to ongoing systemic backlogs, leaving my business entirely stranded without an operational asset or a loan phone. This is a pattern; when I initially tried to log the defective Reno13 in January, their systems were down then too, forcing me into an exhausting warranty repair loop. I have formally rejected their repair proposal and their "goodwill" framing. I have demanded a full contract cancellation or a brand-new replacement device, along with a refund of handset fees paid while the device was out of commission. A formal case is active with the National Consumer Commission (NCC) under case number CC2026/05/0242, and all email trails are being forwarded as supplementary evidence. Large corporations cannot leave small business clients to absorb the costs of defective manufacturing.

Dear Oppo Customer Service, I hope this message finds you well. I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my Oppo Reno 13G, which I purchased with the understanding that it is water-resistant up to 2 meters for 30 minutes. Based on this specification, I used the device within what I believed to be its advertised limits. Unfortunately, the phone has since suffered water damage. I am extremely disappointed that my claim for repair or replacement has been declined. The advertised water resistance strongly influenced my decision to purchase this device, and I trusted that it would perform accordingly under normal conditions as specified. What makes this situation even more disappointing is that I have been a loyal Oppo customer for many years. My son and I both used the Oppo Reno 7 5G for approximately three years, and my husband used the Oppo Reno 8 — all of these devices were purchased under my name. Because of this positive experience with your brand, I was particularly excited when a waterproof model became available. In fact, my son previously took his Oppo device to Thailand and was able to take beautiful underwater photos at the islands without any issues at all. This further reinforced my trust in Oppo’s quality and durability, making this current situation even more upsetting. Given that the device failed despite being used within the stated limits, I believe this matter warrants urgent reconsideration. I respectfully request that Oppo review my case and provide a fair resolution, whether through repair, replacement, or a detailed explanation supported by technical findings. I am happy to provide proof of purchase, service reports, or any additional information required to assist in this process. I trust that Oppo values its loyal customers and stands behind the quality of its products. I look forward to your prompt response and a satisfactory resolution. Kind regards, Thanking you Sally De Bruyn

Oppo has disappointed me once again. I upgraded my contract with MTN in Clearwater mall mid February , I was reluctant on taking the Oppo device but I was promised that the phones are now much more reliable. I than proceeded with the deal that supposed to come with an Oppo watch, which I was told that the watch will come two weeks later... I kept on following up on the watch, I was told around the 16 -18 March the device should arrive. It is already the 25 and there is still nothing. I was out running errands,I ask mtn again today, I was told they will let me know!!!

vODACOM REPAIR CENTER: Bought the phone in June of 2025. Phone is now booked in for the third time. I want to change the device for a different device and something other than Oppo, since it is a problem phone. I use my phone for authentication purposes on banking platforms, and each time it goes in my work is late. MUST I lose my job over a phone??? No proper employment in SOUTH AFRICA. I want to opt for a different device and I will pay the difference. Vodacom also refuse to stand by its client, as I now have to deal with a vodacom repair center. Vodacom is also giving bad service. PUBLIC please try stay away from these two service providers, when it comes to the OPPO brand. Regards I need a new device last week, my deadlines is almost here. THE ACCOUNTANT G Erasmus ***

I bought an OPPO A74, some time ago and I have been trying to get help with pop up emojis, in all apps, l am to put it lightly SO FRUSTRATED! It made me l and has caused me to lose a potential contract with my business in its start up phase in an industry where, by word of mouth is crucial to enter the market. I have been trying to get hold of the company on numerous occasions to no avail! I have already posted a review on your platform, yet again with not even an acknowledgement! It's very clear to me that you have no idea or interest in your clients'interest! I will not recommend you for all the tea in China and have no faith in you at all! Not such kind regards Werner Homann Tel***

Even after I wrote a VERY NEGATIVE review and posted it on this platform and I have also been trying to reach them by calling the local Telkom outlet ( Paarl Mall, to see if they can get hold of their rep to going to the outlet to get some help with my phone. They were unable to assist me. I'm disabled and wheelchair bound, which makes it very difficult to get to the outlet and speak to you, as I desperately need help with my phone, I still haven't received any help from you !! I will not recommend, you to my worst enemy! I've been so happy with your product,, but the lack of service is preventing me from doing it!!

My husband bought 2 Oppo Reno 15 Pro phones @ Cell C in highveld mall. There was a promotion when you buy the 15 Pro you would receive another small phone free. Upon signing the contract he was advised that the extra phones were on back order and he would be contacted once the phones were delivered to the store. He waited for 2 weeks but no call. He decided to go today to check and was told by Itumeleng who is the area manager at Oppo that the phones are out of stock and we will not be getting them anymore and there is nothing he can do. He was very rude and had a "I don't care attitude". I cannot believe that a "whole manager" can be that careless when it comes to their customers. My husband and I always buy our phones from Oppo. These are our 3rd Oppo phones and after this treatment from Itumeleng we are even considering returning the phones, cancelling the contract and buying different brands. We are very disappointed because we are loyal to the brand however we have realised that Oppo does not value their clients. We feel ****med by Oppo for advertising false information just to make sales.
