Victoria & Alfred Waterfront
Based on recent customer reviews, Victoria & Alfred Waterfront is widely celebrated as a vibrant shopping, dining, and leisure destination, with visitors consistently praising the cleanliness, lively atmosphere, and accessibility for families and elderly guests. Standout staff interactions, particularly during boat tours and assisted shopping experiences, are frequently highlighted. However, a recurring theme among dissatisfied customers involves food quality concerns at on-site retailers and restaurants, alongside frustrations with complaint handling, delivery disputes, and parking payment issues that customers feel were resolved without sufficient empathy or accountability.

What a terrible experience my family and I had at Pick 'n Pay V&A Waterfront Deli yesterday, 16/05/2026, So my family and I decided to pop into PnP Deli to grab something to eat, we were specifically looking for the Saturday and Sunday double deal special at R160 for 2 Rotisserie chicken, at 19:50 there was no chicken in the warmer then we asked the counter hand (Ashanti) who looked completely bewildered at our request. She then along with her 5 other colleagues giggled at our request, she then told us to wait, after almost 10 min of waiting she returned with two COLD, COMPLETELY OVERCOOKED, DRY, HARD Chickens and she just plonked in into my trolly after coming out from behind the counter. I was so shocked at the state the chicken was in that I asked the other ladies what this was, they were as shocked as I was at the state of this horrible chicken, I immediately asked for the manager whereby they rep**** had left already, I then asked another manager who happened to have walked by, she then called on the store manager on duty who was amazing, he gave us a discount for the chicken and promised to deal with the matter in a way he will find fit. This service was completely unacceptable and completely uncalled for. My family and I are paying customers and deserved better service. #dissatisfied #payingcustomer #badcustomerservice

The boat is lovely, we were part of a ladies group, where the ages ranged from 65 to 99 years old, and they all boarded, some with help from the professional staff, especially Asi, the guide. all in all , a fun trip, value for money at R60 pp (pensioners) and such excellent service

I would like to raise a formal complaint regarding very poor service and food quality experienced at Pick n Pay. On Tuesday, I purchased a chicken meal from the store. When I later arrived at the office and opened it, I noticed a very strong and unpleasant smell. A colleague of mine had purchased the same chicken and experienced exactly the same issue, confirming that the chicken smelled off. I had to leave work during office hours to return the chicken to the store. Upon returning it, I was informed that the smell was allegedly caused by the sauces, as the chicken was mixed with chilli sauce and two other sauces. This explanation was disappointing, as the smell was clearly not normal. The department manager, whose name I prefer not to mention, was abrupt but did attempt to assist us. However, instead of asking for our preferences or dietary requirements, she decided on our behalf what replacement food would be provided. We were not consulted, which I found unacceptable. The replacement food was delivered to our office a few hours after we returned to the store; however, by that time I had already left the office. I was extremely dissatisfied with how the matter was handled. The following day, I returned to collect the food that was offered as compensation. Unfortunately, this meal was just as disappointing, as it appeared to be the same food that had been kept aside. The salad was not fresh and looked as though feta cheese had been removed, even though it was originally included. I had expected that a fresh meal would be prepared. Although compensation was provided, the overall experience remained disappointing. As someone who works in customer service myself, I believe this situation could have been handled far better. A sincere apology, asking for food preferences, checking for allergies, or even offering a small voucher (R50 or R100) to allow us to choose our own meal would have gone a long way. Ultimately, I ended up giving the food away, as it was clearly not fresh. I work opposite the mall and regularly use Pick n Pay as my preferred option for lunch. This experience has left me extremely disappointed, as I believe the matter could have been handled with much greater care and professionalism. I trust that this feedback will be taken seriously and used to improve both food quality control and customer service going forward.
