I am extremely disappointed with Sparklight Gearboxes and the RMI’s lack of mediation. In Nov 2023, I paid R52,050 (Invoice INA56972) for a full gearbox overhaul. After traveling only 27,059 km, the unit has suffered a catastrophic internal failure (stretched chain and faulty valve body). Sparklight is attempting to hide behind a 12-month warranty, ignoring Section 55 of the Consumer Protection Act regarding "Reasonable Durability." They are now demanding an additional R43,000 + VAT to fix their own premature failure. Despite involving the RMI, my correspondence has been ignored for over 24 hours

Marie provided expert technical advice. She is thorough and was well prepared and patient with the process. Her timing in guiding the direction of the hearing was spot on. Excellent work!

As a paying member belonging to the Motor Industry Workshop Association ( MIWA / RMI). I was in need of some labour assistance from a representative for my first time in 15 years, I called MIWA and I was directed to their IR Specialist, Mrs Thenjiwe Hugo. I made contact with her 4 weeks before the sit-down, explained the case and She requested I send the case file to her, which I sent the same day. In the following days, every time I contacted her (12 times), she said she was busy and would get back to me. I understand people forget sometimes but In the final days before the hearing, I made contact again & she said she is up to date with the case and would meet me at the DRC in Witbank. Thenjiwe Hugo never pitched at the hearing on the day and ignored all my calls and messages, leaving me stranded and without representation on the hearing day and without any prior warning or notice. This was so so unprofessional. The fees we pay to these structures cost alot of money, so I'm very disappointed in MIWA's choice of IR Specialist. I would not recommend anyone to use their legal services. You will be left out to dry.

I am writing to personally thank Tumiso Lekoloane for the exceptional support he provided as a Consumer Affairs Specialist during our recent dispute resolution. His ability to balance a professional, objective mediation with a genuine understanding of the challenges faced by both parties was truly impressive. His guidance ensured that we could close this matter with integrity, while upholding the high standards of the RMI. We truly value the dedication he showed in facilitating a conclusion.
