I engaged with GetWorth on 12 May 2026 to sell my 2025 VW Golf R-Line Plus. This is vehicle that I, as a VWGA employee, leased from new for 2 months and then purchased in December 2025. When purchasing a vehicle from the factory, it is standard procedure that vehicle be delivered to the purchaser through a VW dealership. I nominated Tavcor VW in Port Elizabeth as the delivering dealer, thus the invoice of the vehicle was generated by Tavcor. GetWorth sent me a "firm offer" of R581 398, after which I was called by them regarding the offer and I accepted this offer. On that call, I was told that because my vehicle is less than 9 month old, I had to furnish GetWorth with the invoice of the vehicle, amongst other documents. After the call, I received an email requesting the required documents, which I then sent to GetWorth. When I sent the requested documents, I copied my brother on the email, as he was in possession of my vehicle and would be handing it over. Just 2 months prior, my brother had sold a 2025 VW Golf Life Plus to get worth, which was also a former lease vehicle of mine, purchased from the factory, via the same Tavcor VW dealership. A day later I received call from GetWorth stating that they would not be purchasing my vehicle, because Tavcor sells auctioned vehicles and they do not buy auctioned vehicles. The representative also added my vehicle is less than 9 months old and they do not purchase vehicles less than 9 months old. I was obviously really confused by the claim that the vehicle I purchased through a VW dealer was now being labeled as an auctioned vehicle. I tried to rebut this claim, but the line got cut. The GetWorth representative then sent an email reiterating what she had previously stated on the phone call. She also attached screenshots of a Google search showing that Google's AI says Tavcor does auction vehicles and Tavcor Motor Group's website showing that they do have an arm that auctions vehicles. My brother then rep**** stating that when he sold his vehicle to GetWorth, he dealt with the same person and there were no issues about whether the vehicle was auctioned. He also asked for clarity on why this is an issue now. The representative rep****, merely stating this policy is new. However, this policy was in place when brother sold his car to GetWorth. I sent a follow up email, asking GetWorth to clarify whether they are claiming that my vehicle is an auctioned vehicle and I obtained it by means of an auction. They had not responded after 6 days. However, what GetWorth should had done from the outset, but failed to do was call the dealer who invoiced the vehicle to check if the vehicle was auctioned. They did not note that on the invoice there is a line that states "Sales Type: FACTORY". I suspect GetWorth made an offer they were not willing to honour and resorted to levelling false accusations to get out of it.
