Vumatel

They made me turn into a Karen, horrible experience
The short of this is that your internet issues will be seen as a low priority problem despite what the support team claims. As of writing this, my internet has been off for 5 days, since wednesday the 13th, it is now monday the 18th. My internet worked for a week, then after scheduled maintenance in the area, my line died, flashing red light on router (only 1 light so couldn't see what the issue was) A ticket was logged through my isp to Vumatel. Vumatel then closed this ticket in error, as they saw that everything was fine on their end and told me it was a router issue. This turned out to be false, as the issue persisted even when bypassing the router. A new ticket was logged. Since then I have been following up every day, sometimes multiple times per day, for any update, any progress or solution. Each time I am told the same thing. "We apologise for the inconvenience, we are escelating the ticket and will update you" this update never comes. I have spent close to 15% of the month without internet for a service I am paying for. Only receiving an update this morning that told me they have escelated it to their tier 2 team because they cannot see anything wrong. Beyond dissapointed at this terrible service. I have had to ask for a manager just to talk to someone to actually escelate the issue. The support team, although kind, clearly cannot get through to the other departments, as they do not call each other, only ticket emails, which are useless.

Pray you dont experience any issues
All around terrible experience in trying to use a service I'm paying for. Used webafrica because they had a deal with octotel fibre. Ordered it, then receieved a cryptic sms 3 days later saying it was cancelled because my body corporate denied install. I messaged them (each time I talk to them I wait minimum 2 hours for an agent to respond btw, sometimes more than a day) and it was then revealed it was because octotel was out of open lines so they couldnt accomodate me, instead they could give me vumatel. But I had to chase them up and ask about it otherwise...id be without anything and none the wiser. Then it was installed without hassle, but activation took 2 days langer than their usual "promised" time because they did not communicate with vumatel, and then told me this was false and the problem **** with vumatel. The internet worked for a week. Then stopped with the router flashing a red light. This has been such a headache to deal with, at the time of writing this, 48+ hours without internet. Every night on the phone with support, 2 "tickets" were raised with vumatel, but nothing has been done. They just say they will escalate.

Go Gorilla Movers

This is the moving company to go with in Cape Town
Fantastic, proffesional, efficient service, if you need to move, these are your guys. I was searching for a moving company that wasn't marred with negative reviews and claims of theft, withholding furniture for extra payments etc. Go Gorilla communicated clearly and gave me the reassurance that they were prepared for my move. Excellent pricing, fair deposit rate and a bunch of add on services for those that can't pack/cover their possesions if they need bubble wrap/blankets etc. The move itself was seamless, 20 minutes to pack everything up by a 4 man team that was kind and efficient. Truck drove safely and arrived with me at my new place, unloading took 20 minutes, and they had covered my tables and desk for the rain. Can not recommend them enough.

Dial A Nerd

Repair Technician did not know how to work with my pc.
I recently experienced pc troubles with my editing/VFX rig. It would not start no matter what. I tried everything I could think of, but was swamped with work, so I didn't have time to do a proper deep dive. I reached out to Dial a Nerd since I needed a home visit to just diagnose the problem, then I could go about replacing/repairing it. I had my rig disassembled and breadboarded on cardboard to make diagnostics easier ( a common step in troubleshooting problem PCs). The response was quick, and someone was sent out fast to my home. I was not at home, so my girlfriend received him. I got a call asking why my pc was out of the case. The technician, although kind, didn't want to touch it as he was scared he would break the system, which I would not expect from an IT repair service. I drove home to assist him, where he said the same thing, asking how he was supposed to turn it on. When I pointed out he could just use the pins on the motherboard, as every basic pc repair tutorial tells you to do when the case button is disconnected, he refused. Finally, he pulled out his own power supply, which I hoped would be able to tell me if my power supply was the problem when he swapped that into the system. However, the psu he brought was for a desktop motherboard leagues smaller than mine/for a motherboard way older than mine. It would not be able to power my board. His advice to me was to put it back into the case and book it into their shop. Not before he tried plugging in the smaller psu and potentially frying my motherboard. They did not charge me for this quick visit, which I appreciate. However, it felt like an underqualified professional who didn't know how to approach a system that, in all honesty, should be something they have worked with before. If I had the time to wait till the weekend to take the pc in somewhere, I would not have requested a home visit. Fairly dissapointed with the service, as no resolution was achieved.
