The Common Thread: Ubuntu in White Coats
Part 1: The Consultation That Changed Everything It started at Melrose Arch with Itumeleng. Most people walk into a pharmacy manager’s office to complain about a medical aid rejection; I walked in with a "never-ending" list of problems. Itumeleng didn't just check my vitals; she checked my spirit. She sat there, a fortress of patience, listening to every word until I’d poured it all out. She didn't just hand me a script; she handed me a roadmap for the future. I walked into that consultation room heavy and left it transformed. But more than that, she became the guardian of my survival—literally. Knowing that a diabetic's life is governed by what’s on their plate, she moved beyond "pharmacist" to "big sister," making sure I was fed and fueled. She didn't just care if I took my meds; she cared if I stayed alive. Part 2: The Race Against the Clock When Melrose didn’t have my insulin, the baton was passed. Itumeleng coordinated with Khanyi at the Rosebank Zone. Now, Khanyi is out here doing the work of two people—quite literally, as she is beautifully, heavily pregnant. She waited for me. She stayed at that pharmacy like a lighthouse keeping watch. Little did she know, as I was racing toward her, my body was failing. Hypoglycemia doesn’t care about traffic or business hours; it’s a silent, terrifying crash. I ended up in the hospital instead of her pharmacy, but that’s where the "magic" happened. Most professionals would have closed the file when the shift ended. Not these two. Part 3: The Homecoming Arriving at Rosebank this morning wasn't a "customer visit"—it was a family reunion. Khanyi and her team didn't just greet me; they held space for me. To walk in and be met with that level of reassurance—the "we’ve got you" look—was enough to make the toughest person crumble. Khanyi is so focused on my well-being that she almost made me a godmother right there between the vitamin aisle and the fragrance section! The Verdict: A Lesson in Humanity I’ll be honest: I was a Dis-Chem person. I used to think Clicks never had what I needed. I was wrong. It turns out they had the two things I needed most: Itumeleng and Khanyi. These two women are eloquent, they are professional, and they are masters of their craft. But more importantly, they are human beings who refuse to fail at the art of kindness. To Clicks: You have two leaders who aren't just hitting targets; they are saving lives and building a legacy. To Itumeleng: Thank you for seeing me when I was invisible. To Khanyi: Thank you for waiting when the world wouldn't. I may have failed at many things in my life, but looking at these two "big sisters" in their white coats, I finally learned the most important lesson: Never fail at being a human being. If you want your prescription filled, go anywhere. But if you want your life changed and your hope restored, go find the ladies at Melrose Arch and Rosebank. Just bring some tissues—and maybe a baby gift for Khanyi.

From Food Poisoning to False Accusations: A Traumatic Experience at Checkers Hyper Sandton City
I am writing this with a heavy heart and a severely compromised state of health. What I experienced at Checkers Hyper Sandton City was not just a failure of customer service—it was a total breakdown of human decency and public safety. I recently purchased a 4-pack of garlic paninis, only to discover they were rotten. Disturbingly, I had already consumed three of them before a staff member even pointed out the rot to me. I am currently suffering from a severe case of food poisoning, an entirely preventable situation had the store adhered to basic health and safety protocols. When I approached the service desk for a refund, I was met with such aggression and hostility from the clerk that the situation became emotionally draining. In a state of total distress and confusion caused by the clerk’s behavior, I mistakenly walked away with other items I had intended to pay for using the refund. The moment I was alerted to the oversight, I took full responsibility, apologized profusely, and offered to pay immediately. Instead of acknowledging the human error sparked by their own toxic service, the staff and security chose to escalate. I was subjected to a horrific public shaming where security guards maliciously accused me of "slip-fishing"—falsely claiming I had picked up a discarded receipt from a trolley to shoplift. To be poisoned by a store’s negligence and then slandered as a ******** when seeking a resolution is a level of trauma no consumer should endure. The sheer lack of empathy and the ease with which they fabricated a story to ********ize me is disgusting. I have officially lodged a complaint with the National Consumer Commission (NCC) and will be pursuing further action. I am demanding a formal apology and accountability for the health risks and the defamation of my character. I urge the public to be cautious; this branch clearly values neither your health nor your dignity.

The Best shines Amidst the worst
Review: The Heart and Soul of Engen @ Engen Emmarentia. (The Amagwinya Team) I’m writing this specifically to recognize the two ladies and the gentleman who handle the food at this Engen. In my opinion, they make the absolute best amagwinya of any Engen garage, but it’s their character that truly sets them apart. My name is Thabo, and although I haven’t been by in a while, I will never forget the impact these three had on my life. There was a time when I was living on the streets, and every morning—tired and hungry—their stall was my first stop. While the management often looks sour or overwhelmed by their own problems, this team is the complete opposite. They have an amazing, consistent, and professional aura. They are kind to everyone, especially those who have the least, and they treat the poor with a level of respect that is rare to find. They don't just serve food; they serve hope. Their friendly smiles and those perfect amagwinya genuinely made my day every single time. They are the true heart and soul of this business. If you want to see what real service and humanity look like, look for these three.

Sandown clinic

They just never improve
Review: 1 Star – Disgraceful Conduct and Zero Patient Care I would give this clinic zero stars if I could. The level of unprofessionalism at Sandown Clinic is staggering, starting the moment you walk through the door. The Reception: The front-of-house staff are loud, carefree, and clearly underqualified for a professional medical environment. Instead of assisting patients, the receptionists—specifically the one with glasses—spend their time openly gossiping about internal staff matters and personal affairs right in front of patients. They are incredibly rude and dismissive; they seem far more concerned with debt collection and the money people owe them than the actual human beings standing in front of them needing help. This team needs to be moved away from the public immediately; they have no idea how to handle "patient affairs" with any shred of dignity or privacy. The Medical Staff: The clinical experience was just as bad. The nurse was entirely dismissive of my concerns. At one point, I was actually expected to dip my own urine sample—a task that is basic clinical procedure for a trained professional. The Outcome: Because the staff was so busy chatting and being unprofessional, I was forced to leave without my medication or any actual help because I had to get to work. They have no respect for a patient’s time or health. If you are looking for a clinic that actually cares about medicine rather than office drama and money, stay far away from Sandown.

African Bank

Worst bank ever
I am extremely disappointed with the level of service I have received from African Bank, specifically regarding their call center agents. While I have had positive experiences with the consultants inside the bank, who are consistently professional and helpful, the call center is a completely different story. My issue, which has now been ongoing for over three weeks, remains unresolved. What's worse is the complete lack of communication. I have received no updates, no follow-ups, nothing. It's as if my issue has simply vanished into thin air. It's clear that the concept of professionalism is completely lost on the call center staff. This experience has been incredibly disheartening and disappointing. While I appreciate the in-branch staff, the abysmal service from the call center has completely soured my opinion of African Bank. I will not be using their services or products again and would not recommend them to anyone else based on this experience.

Gauteng Rental Housing Tribunal

Bribery, bad service and unprofessionalism at the gauteng Tribunal
I recently had a deeply disappointing experience with the Gauteng Housing Tribunal, and I feel compelled to share it so others are aware of the issues I encountered. My interaction with the Tribunal was marred by consistently bad service, rude staff, and, most disturbingly, an alleged incident of bribery. From the outset, communication was difficult. Staff members I encountered were unhelpful and displayed a dismissive attitude. This already frustrating situation escalated significantly when I was allegedly approached by a staff member who directly solicited a bribe. I was told, in no uncertain terms, that assistance with my case would only be forthcoming if I paid a sum of money or purchased airtime for this individual. This demand was utterly shocking and completely unacceptable. To be denied help when I was most in need, simply because I refused to participate in this ******* practice, is beyond disheartening. I turned to the Gauteng Housing Tribunal in good faith, hoping for resolution and support with a housing issue. Instead, I was met with unprofessionalism, rudeness, and what appears to be a blatant attempt at ******ion. It is incredibly unprofessional and ********* for any public official to solicit bribes or ask for monetary favors. Such behavior undermines the integrity of the institution and erodes public trust. It's particularly egregious in a body like the Housing Tribunal, which is meant to protect the rights of vulnerable individuals in housing disputes. Those who are already facing difficult circumstances should not have to contend with the added burden of potential *******ion. My experience with the Gauteng Housing Tribunal has left me deeply disappointed and disillusioned. I sincerely hope that my review will prompt a serious investigation into the alleged bribery incident and a much-needed overhaul of the Tribunal's service delivery and staff conduct. The public deserves a fair and impartial body to address housing concerns, free from *******ion and characterized by professionalism and respect.

Exceptional Service from MP a driver who picked me up this morning- A True 5-Star Experience!"
Exceptional Service from MP a driver who picked me up this morning- A True 5-Star Experience!" I recently had the pleasure of experiencing the absolute best Uber ride of my life, thanks to the exceptional service provided by driver MP. From the moment I stepped into his vehicle, I was met with a warm welcome and a genuine sense of kindness. MP's professionalism was evident from the start. He was impeccably presented and his vehicle was spotless and comfortable. His driving was smooth and safe, and he clearly prioritized passenger comfort throughout the journey. What truly set MP apart was his exceptional communication skills. He was well-spoken and engaging, making the ride feel more like a conversation with a friend than a mere transportation service. He was clearly a well-rounded individual with a wealth of knowledge and interesting perspectives. Throughout my extensive travels across the globe, I have encountered countless individuals, but none have ever made me feel as valued and respected as MP did. His genuine kindness, coupled with his exceptional service, created an unforgettable experience. I highly recommend MP to any fellow travelers seeking a truly exceptional and memorable ride. Sincerely, Tash Nhlapo-Ferguson & Miguel Simes +***8 MP's number
