Emmanuel Smith from Curemed was brilliant during my application procedure. He was helpful, knowledgeable and super efficient. The application process due to his efficiency was the easiest and most professional I have come across in a long time!
I am an insurance broker who has been employed in the short term insurance industry for 18 or so odd years. And insurance is a tough industry where you have to deal with a lot of complaints, bad service and subsequent bad reviews. So allow me to end the day on a positive note. There are a lot of great insurance companies in South Africa, you get your good days and you get bad days and you get your great days, but sometimes you have more good than bad days. And with Santam you can be assured of more outstanding days than good days. And more good days than bad days! They excel on a multitude of levels: Customer service Claims service System technologies and the rollouts thereof Training and competency levels of staff in all the different levels and tiers of the company Innovation Product offerring Their support to policyholders and their constant committment to their client base I could go on and on. I work with a multitude of insurers daily, the majority of them within the good and excellent range, but I chose to positively review this insurer. That should speak for itself! Keep up the good work Santam! If I did not already work for a great company, I would be begging you to employ me!
They have horrific customer care service. Earlier in the year, prior to lockdown, lost a package of mine following a hijacking. Ok, that's the reality of living in South Africa. Not my issue. They to this day have not made a single call to me, despite my numerous requests for a callback, to either INFORM me of the loss, APOLOGISE for my loss, OR offer me any form compensation for my loss. YES I know the dropbox service is without insurance (or the option thereof) and it was my informed decision to take the risk, but is it too much to expect some form of common courtesy from a nationwide courier? But after numerous calls that I MADE, some where they were even rude when I dared insist speaking to a manager (which is apparently not allowed!), I decided to leave the matter and write my loss off. The sender ended up compensating me partially because as a small independent business owner she felt a responsibility towards me (can you believe!) - which I have rewarded since then with my continued support and patronage. Then today, I once again made the call to aramex head office to enquire about my latest package that was not delivered on time (yes I know I was stupid using them again, but your parcel can't get hijacked twice in one year surely?!) Immediately upon reading and repeating my tracking number numerous times only to hear silence on the end of the line, I knew something was up. The operator mumbled and stumbled while informing me my package is "lost" and I should hold to speak to the person trying to find my package. Well, after holding 10 minutes at the cost of MY airtime I was forced to disconnect the call. Yet again it was up to ME to discover my parcel is lost. It was up to ME to make the necessary calls and I will leave it up to public opinion to decide what will become of my latest financial loss. Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice shame on me? I would love them to respond but as I have no contact details for them, they must be non-existent?
