I had lodged a case against my broker , whom later I found out is NOT just a broker but a director fo the company aswell, diespite NFO rulings that my claim should have NOT been the policy route ( which I submitted to FAIS aswell) aswell as evidence that there was foul play from my brokers side. When my FAIS ruling arrived as dismissed and I went through the documentation , my version of events was grossly distorted by the adjudicator , and when I called her to question this she got annoyed, she was under the impression that correcting my version of events would NOT make a difference in the ruling , I also questioned why I never got the opportunity to respond formally ( as in view the response of the Brokers firm and respond ) before a ruling was made . Looks like this is a commin occurance with Both NFO & FAIS. What was even more shocking is that the Adjudicator on my case boldly stated that my brokers duty is not to assist with claims as that is NOT part of their mandate but what is TCF then there for ????? , i was told by the adjudicator that I need to contact the insurance company directly , when i pointed out to her that I had attempted to work with the Insurance directly I was refused and told i need to work through my broker . Im very dissatisfied with FAIS and how they have handled my case and i feel that no attention to detail was done ( even though I requested this from my initial complaint ). FAIS chose my brokers side and make a ruling without due consideration.
I had notified FNB in early November of last year that my husbands company had closed down and that I know I'm going to run into financial problems. As my income will be the only one that will be coming into my household. I had asked FNB for assistance in terms of seeing if they can accommodate me for a short amount of time by reducing my monthly payment (that which I can afford , without getting into bad debt with FNB) till we have a additional income coming into the home. I did not care if it meant that my loans ect would be extended and I would have to pay more intrest over a longer period of time. As long as I could both provide for my home a d still pay FNB something in the meantime. After being sent from pillar to post , I had even gone as far as seeing my personal banker to see if she could assist me, or atleast help me try find some way to reduce my monthly payments for a short amount of time. Unfortunately I was hit with a brick wall at every turn. FNB proceeded to inform me that no one will be able to assist me unless I default on payments. Thus meaning I have to incur a BAD credit record. How can this be possible that I have come forward to FNB and informed you ahead of time that I am going to be in financial problems, and FNB would rather accept me getting a bad credit record than assisting me. Upon my meeting with my personal banker and numerous emails and phone calls (to allot of departments), I had informed everyone that I cannot go into bad debt I.e getting a bad credit record as I've just recently started a new company and i needed to keep a good credit record. On the 15th of January I recieved a call with regards to my smart devices. I had informed the person on the call that I needed a payment arrangement and he had informed me that he will speak to his manager/team leader and revert back to me. I am still waiting for that call. Instead I was sent a notification of arrears on my smart devices account on the 24th Of January. This is very frustrating as I am falling deeper into debt with FNB , regardless of the fact that I stood up prior to getting into trouble. FNB is willing to let clients fall to the lowest of the low, where my business is now in trouble. This meaning that MY income will be affected and I wont be able to pay anything. This is utterly shocking to hear FNB would rather turn their back on a client ,than assist them in a time of need.
