Active since Dec 2016
When I started in 2023, I was so happy. Everything worke wonderfully...and then everything changed in 2025. My last year was very challenging for various reason but a huge issue was communication. It seems like they made it their business to make it virtually impossible to speak to a human. The culimination is that I am graduating in Cape Town in April 2026 (in 4 weeks) and I still haven't received any information about my graduation day, time or location, where to get graduation attire costs...nothing. We received a 'save the date' flyer identifying 2 possible dates (imagine trying to manage work committments) and that's it. After several logged tickets and emails, all I got an email asking ME to contact THEM on the 31 March if I did not receive the information. Incredibly unprofessional. I paid an extraorindinary amount of money over 3 years to get told that I need to contact them for an administrative task they are responsible for. A confusing fact is that campuses graduating in May have received their invitations and information. Overall, really miserable communication practices. I am so very gald I decided to take my further studies elsewhere.
Shout to Cara, who delivered EXCEPTIONAL SERVICE today. She was extremely friendly, professional and thorough. She assisted me and sorted out all my insurance needs in under 10min and although I could not see her, she definitely had a smile on her face. Thanks Cara:)

I had been a loyal Virgin Active member for a number of years. Unfortuantely, after Liberty Life withdrew their loyaly programme I was no longer able to afford going to the gym. It would have cost just under R800.00 for myself adn V-Max for my son. So in April 2016 I decided to canclmy membership.

Towards the end of May 2016, I received a call from a V.A consulatant asking me why I cancelled my membership. So I explained that it was too ex*****veand that I was NOT in a position to pay +/-R560.00 for myself and +/-R250.00 for V-Max. To this he offered my 50% off on both memberships. My fee would have been affordable at around R350.00 for both memberships, so I agreed. I was reinstated in June 2016, but from August 2016 I was charged the normal price again!!! I only noticed this in October.

When I called the call centre, firstly I was told that the person I needed to speak to was ON LEAVE and then that the offer that was made to me was a 2 month retention special. Iwould have never agreed to that! During the course of my conversation with Y Allie, I was crystal clear in my saying that the normal fee did not suit me. If he used some special V.A thiefing language which I did not get, I don't know but I never agreed to any retention special.

So, in October I started making enquiries, emailing etc...I got one email back from an administrator saying that they apologised for the delay in response and then lots of auto-generated emails.

It has now been 4.5 months.

As far as I am concerned, Virgin Active is a conniving, thiefing conglomerate.
