It is very disappointing that Legae Funerals (Sopema) offers a courtesy vehicle as an additional benefit to assist families during funerals, yet the service creates more stress during an already difficult time. When taking out the policy, I clearly explained that the extended family members covered are based in a rural area. Sadly, the courtesy vehicle arrangement only allows the car for 3 days, with no option to extend the booking even at an additional cost. We were constantly told that Avis would not allow any extension, and we were even threatened that if the vehicle was not returned before 12 noon, it would be reported as ******. My husband had to drive 14 hours just to return the car on time. Unfortunately, we forgot the boot cover at home, but we immediately communicated that we would return it on Tuesday morning. Throughout this process, Takalani Lusunzi, the consultant we dealt with, came across as very self-centered and did not show empathy or balance the interests of both the claimant and the client relationship. Despite this negative experience, I would like to sincerely thank Alessandro , who was very understanding, patient, and professional throughout the process. He made the return of the vehicle smooth and treated us with respect during a difficult time. Overall, I am really unhappy with the experience and believe Legae Funerals can improve greatly in how they handle and support grieving families.

Hassim mistreating Employees: It is so disheartening to support a black owned business that thrives in humiliating and embarrassing young, black people. I have heard too many stories of employees under Legae who are Abused and Humiliated by a lady named Hassim. She is supposedly the HR of the company and working under her is a Humiliation ritual. I am baffled that in this current economic climate our young brothers & sisters are brought to tears by someone who is meant to mentor and build them up. I will NOT stop writing about this. I will rant on all Social media platforms about this treatment until they learn that those people they have employed have families & communities who support Legae. Stop placing bullies in high places.

I had a very disappointing experience with Sopema Funeral Services. The service did not meet the standards that were promised, and when I requested a refund, it was refused without a satisfactory explanation. During such a sensitive time, I expected professionalism and compassion, which I unfortunately did not receive. I would not recommend their services.

I have contacted your office three times since 30/12/2025 regarding changing my debit order date. Each time, I was assured that a customer service representative would reach out to me. It is extremely disappointing to be repeatedly passed from one person to another, especially when I am making every effort to meet my contractual obligations. I request immediate assistance to resolve this matter without further delay.

A compliment is deserved when it's due. I received wonderful service from Alessandro at the Orlando West branch. After getting his number, I submitted my claim via WhatsApp, and within 24 hours, my claim was approved, and I received the funds. Thank you, Sopema, for keeping your promise. This was my second claim, and I've never experienced any issues with you. Your agents are always willing to assist, regardless of the query. I would definitely recommend you to friends and family.

I've been with them for more than 2 years. The service is horrible. I was told I owe money for one month of which I paid that amount. Looked at my policy documents and they changed cover amounts without my concern. I was made to pay for car hire option and later found out its not applicable to people outside of Johannesburg. I've been paying for this extra money for nothing. It's always stories with them. They **** up everything. The staff there doesn't want to take responsibility for anything. LEGAE/SOPEMA Childs play shame.

I visited the Sopema funaral services offices on the 4th of October for a new a policy, I must say from the minute We walked in the service was awesome, to the consultant that assisted us Lerato Modise she was so efficient, patient, friendly and willing to assist. I'm certain that I made the right choice by joining in and have no doubts that I'm in good hands.

I have been with Sophema now trading as Legal funeral home for the past 6 years my worst experience is with the customer service and the *********** staff a lady by the name of Lerato Modise pretended like she is assisting me yesterday as I requested a policy document which is well within my rights she said she did and yet she did not according to the agent I spoke to this morning this is not the first time happening they always act like they assisting but they are just gathering stats on their side on the number of calls management the staff is not working they don't give us what we need as customers and it's beginning to irritate me as a loyal client for 6yrs
