I regret using K&M Plumbing (Secunda) and Karl Maartens for repairs and upgrades to our bathroom and passage wall. Initially, Karl appeared professional and responsive. We received formal quotations totaling R37,900, which I paid a R32,000 deposit toward. Karl acknowledged receipt and work commenced. Unfortunately, the experience quickly deteriorated: Poor Workmanship: Tiling was poorly aligned, and a cracked tile was left in the shower. The toilet did not flush properly, and despite Karl’s promises, I had to fix it myself. There were visible defects in the bath installation, and the mirror frame was damaged. Unfulfilled Promises: Karl repeatedly said he would return to complete and correct the work. This never happened, despite numerous WhatsApp follow-ups. Deceptive Conduct: I was asked to pay a remaining balance under the pretense that Karl needed to pay his workers before the holidays. Trusting his word, I paid. However, he disappeared afterward without completing the job. Damaged Goods & Extra Costs: I had to purchase additional repair materials myself (R946.72), and Karl even admitted to receiving a tile refund of R525, which was never returned to me. The final straw was having to complete the repairs myself and clean up after their mess. The electrical connection for the bath was never done, and communication from Karl completely stopped. This experience mirrors other negative reviews online. I should have heeded the warnings and asked for more reliable references. To anyone considering K&M Plumbing: proceed with extreme caution. Their work is unreliable, promises are empty, and your money may be at risk.

Karl Maartens from K&M plumbing Secunda was approved by my insurance after official assessment was conducted regarding water damages to my property. After his quote was approved we had a meeting discussing repairs. I asked him to purchase the cement, grout and tiles in the meanwhile as I could not get off work by that time during the week he started. We agreed on a startup amount I had to pay which I did. As work started day 1 they damaged my toilet, huge crack at the foot area. I gave them a plank and tarpaulin to cover it while removing old tiles. I accidentally came home to find his worker standing on top of the toilet without any cover also damaging the seat. My bathroom window was cracked due to tiles being forcibly removed from the wall. Also on day 1 the broke an entire fixed shower glass panel. All this was said to be replaced and repaired by builder. That evening I inspected the area where they worked and found so many defect the practically had to redo everything. Tiles skew and not aligned, no spacers used etc. The very expensive border tiles were put in so badly almost all had to be redone, redoing costing me extra money and tiles. One area I could stick my entire hand in behind the tile. Everyday I had to report to him all the issues and bad workmanship they displayed during the day. Everyday was a fight he had to fix original stuff next day again. He did not purchase the last items hence as per quote he owes me R4000 of money paid to him. He did not repair or replace any damaged items he caused. I was giving him the benefit of the doubt after not returning in two weeks. I asked and asked he always rep**** sorry he feels so bad he will come and complete etc etc. He never did and when I stated I am going to report him he just rep**** he does not care. My drains were blocked with cement they never closed the hole my shower floor is flooding does not drain. My water supply valves to the basin was closed with cement completely. I found full unused undamaged tiles daily "hidden" away in the ******* dump in front of my house. The ******* has not been removed and now I must pay to have it done. I have the entire discussions on whatsapp, I have videos and pictures taken, I have quotations and supplier costs including what he received in payment etc
