Dear Peter,
I purchased a Hyundai i20 2020 model on 22 November.
Within one month of purchase, I noticed that the reverse gear makes noise and reported the matter in January. I was booked for inspection in February.
At the dealership I was informed to pay R1100 for diagnosis and later advised that repairs would cost R13,400, stating that this is outside warranty.
I would like to formally request that this vehicle be repaired under the Consumer Protection Act Section 56, as the defect was reported within six months of purchase and existed shortly after delivery.
I am currently still driving the vehicle with the same fault because I cannot afford the repair cost.
Please confirm urgently when the vehicle can be booked for repair, failing which I will escalate the matter further with the Motor Industry Ombudsman and National Consumer Commission.
Kind regards
