in 2025, I processed my ECSA annual fees, as per the invoice they send me. Then a month later ECSA sends a email saying "oopps they made a mistake in the amount", then they handed over my account to MRT Recoveries, to pay the outstanding R731, due to no fault of mine. Since then, these people have been harassing me since Oct 2025 to pay the balance. But I keep sending ECSA emails after emails stating the following, in the last 8 months, which the still have not done to-date. 1. My annual ecsa fees can be processesed ONLY ONCE , thats the rule of my company, so I cannot process the 2025 outstanding balance anymore, as I already processed it once on the old invoice 2. To solve this problem which ECSA created themselved, I asked ECSA literally a 100 times now last 8 months, to : a) to send me a invoice for the outstanding balance R7231 not just a threatening email, as I cannot pay willy nilly just because I received a email. b) They add this extra R700 to the new 2026 bill, so that I can process it. NONE OF THE ABOVE IS DONE TO-DATE, BUT THEY KEEP HARRASSING ME EVERY MONTH LAST 8 MONTS TO PAY THE REMAINING R731 BY SENDING ME TREATENING EMAILS Its like I am talking to a brick wall !!! This is very poor service from ECSA and pure harassment, and I am so sick and tired of them,

For an association that is supposed to be monitoring the professional conduct of professional engineers this is a joke. I am so embarred being associated with ECSA! Customer service is non-existent, they only want to collect the R5700 per year, what the money is used for no-one knows...

ECSA (The Engineering Council of South Africa) is the statutory body for the engineering profession. ECSA's administration is some of the worst which I have ever encountered. Every year ECSA sends out an invoice to professionals registered with the body, and almost every year my invoice is incorrect, with exactly the same recurring error. I have informed ECSA of the error in 2019, 2021 and 2024, whereafter an amended invoice was sent. However, this year, the same error occurs on the invoice again. Dealing with ECSA regarding this matter is like the movie Groundhog Day.

S C A M M E R S ! They stole my money, can you imagine? I can’t even submit a withdrawal request for my deposit. I don’t know what the problem is. They won’t respond to me. I’ve written to them several times, but they never rep****. That was how I got s c a m m e d ....... I have been trying to deregister for 3 years now. It is an impossible task. They continue billing you. When you query them why they continue to bill you it is always the same story: They cannot find your resignation letter. Then you send it all to them again, with all the previous correspondence too. I always ask them to confirm they received it. Then nothing, Come the following you you great invoiced again. How can a society that presents professional people be so useless?

Service non-existent. The members portal is so bad, none of my intelligent colleagues know how to use it. Unfortunately I have no choice but to remain registered under ECSA to be able to function as a professional engineer. How am I supposed to stay professionally registered when the statutory body is highly unprofessional?

I am so dissapointed in this organisation. I had to call and send emails a thousand times only to be told by a certain consultant that my documents have not been received. I called again and one consultant told me my documents were received a month ago, but they have not been uploaded on the system yet it should only take 10 working days to reflect after receiving the documents. This shows that they got my documents but just decided to leave them unattended.I am deeply disappointed because I was thinking highly of Ecsa but with the terrible experience I went through, I am just thinking otherwise.
