Nhlanhla S's updateReviewer Update
27 May 2026, 07:06To Whom It May Concern,
I am formally lodging a complaint regarding the handling of my loan application and the continued delays after I was informed that my loan had been approved.
On Monday, I received an SMS confirming that my loan application had been approved. Following this approval, I signed the debit order mandate and complied with all documentation requests made by your offices.
Despite this, the loan funds have still not been disbursed to me.
What is particularly concerning is that I have had to continuously follow up on this matter myself, and on each occasion I am informed that there is still something outstanding or that underwriting will contact me. To date, no meaningful communication or update has been provided by the underwriting department.
This situation is unacceptable, especially considering that a debit mandate has already been authorised against my bank account while no funds have been paid to me.
I require urgent written clarification on the following:
- The exact status of my application;
- Whether the approval communicated to me was a final approval or conditional approval;
- Whether any debit order instruction has already been loaded against my account;
- Confirmation that no debit order will be processed prior to the disbursement of funds;
- A clear turnaround time for finalisation of this matter.
I further wish to place on record that consumers are entitled to fair, transparent, and lawful conduct in terms of the National Credit Act and the Consumer Protection Act. It is deeply concerning for a debit mandate to be authorised while the consumer has not received the approved funds and is not being provided with proper communication regarding the delay.
Should this matter not be resolved urgently, I reserve my right to escalate the complaint to the National Credit Regulator, the National Financial Ombud Scheme South Africa, as well as my banking institution in relation to any debit activity on my account.
I trust that this matter will now receive urgent attention and be resolved without further delay.
Kind regards,
