Arwyp Medical Centre
Based on recent customer reviews, Arwyp Medical Centre receives sharply divided feedback. Patients consistently praise specific doctors, the maternity and NICU teams, and individual reception staff who deliver compassionate, attentive care. However, a recurring theme is dissatisfaction with casualty wait times, perceived rudeness from nursing and admin personnel, and billing or administrative errors involving medical aid coding. Customers frequently mention concerns around hygiene, post-operative care, and unresponsive management when complaints are raised. While clinical excellence is acknowledged in pockets, broader service consistency and front-line professionalism emerge as repeated pain points.

Very disappointed with my experience at Arwyp. We came in seeking assistance and a referral for a child’s admission last week while covered by medical aid, only to be told that a co-payment of over R14 000 was required upfront. What concerns me most is the lack of consideration for families who simply do not have that kind of money immediately available, especially in situations involving a child’s health. It was stressful, discouraging, and honestly felt inhumane to be placed in that position despite having medical aid. Hospitals should communicate costs transparently and handle patients with empathy and dignity. This has never happened before as I was once a patient at this hospital. I hope management reviews these practices and improves how families are treated during medical emergencies. The guy that assisted us was very helpful though.

Highly dissapointed with the Hospital Management. They take forever to get back to you and isn't very helpfull. The security guard did not want me to park indside the safe parking bay even though I could see there's alot of parking open. The security said I need to go park in the street as I can't park inside. How can the security refuse a woman that's alone to park inside a safe zone. If you walk out of the Hospital's Main entrance the car guards are already attacking you and harrasing you. They broke into my car and the hospital refuse to give me video footage even though I have sent them the case number. They refuse to take any responsabilty of the incident that happend. When I tried to phone the hospital to report the incident the reception will answer the phone and as soon as you are talking they will put the phone down I had to phone 7 times first to beable to speak to them. I feel this is not good customer care at all.

My brother was there yesterday with a bad concussion and they made him sit for an hour and a 45 min before we asked for out papers back and then they wanted to do something, they didnt want him to get a bed in casualty because we havent opened a file but when my mom went to open one she was told to go sit and they were very rude to us, the lady that helps people to go into triage was sitting sleeping while we were there. We took him to Alberton and we were help as soon a we walked in. Its a head injury its a very serious matter. We have been there our whole lives and the past two visits to them was terrible, they gave my brother medication that could kill him, his breathing was challow and he was so out of it he couldn't even wake up or even stand up. We have Acute Intamitant pohoria and cant take alot of meds and when we phoned the doctor to ask why he was giving it he told us there is no such thing so we asked the nurses to see his file to find out what meds he was given because he didnt have a medical braclet on at all so they showed us and we went through the list of stuff we cant have and that was on there so when i asked to see the file again they refused and we had a fit then they quickly flushed his system and he eventually woke up. My brother could have died. Would definitely not recommend going there at all

I came to the hospital an hour ago being sent by my Gynecologist for a CT scan since I have an infection, they told me they can’t admit me I have to go via causality , while earlier on I went to Sunward park hospital where they ruled out the infection and they could have called the hospital for the same results. Okay agreed to do the same urine test again so they could see the same infection, radiology lady comes and tell me that I should go for the scan today , I have been sitting for over two hours in pain feeling cold , they failing to take to the ward and forcing me to do the CT scan today , while my Gynecologist and I agreed to do it tomorrow morning as I wanna rest because I am not feeling well , now I need to spend 4 hours in pain just for a CT scan to be done how unacceptable then this radiology lady comes and be rude towards a while sick patient. I came in for an operation on the 23rd of Jan was admitted at the maternity ward never experienced such disrespect, is it fair that we here to pay but treated like we doing this for free? This is so unacceptable I am very disappointed in the causality team so unprofessional if this how we gonna be treated then why must we come and get treated here ? It’s been over 4 hours waiting to be taken to my ward and no they don’t want I am here freezing in pain and all they do is push their own agenda of the CT which can be done in the morning just as agreed with my doctor .

I have nothing against the hospital itself . I could give 10 stars if it was possible including the stuff is excellent but the Cateen there by ground door. I just had lunch and I was served by this horrible young man full of attitude. The guy is so rude and when I was paying there were 2 sweets together with my invoice and he took back those 2 sweets but seeing that he is being ugly for no reason I asked for the sweets back. He is there now, I just left the canteen.

I would like to share this in public and appreciate Dr Shivuri and all the rest of the staff that worked with him since I was admitted on the 1st January 2026 till 5th January 2026. I have never seen such love kindness and care from any hospital like I the one I received in Arwyp. Thank you all who worked day and night shift during my hospital stay even the sisters in NICU my baby was well taken care off. I am short of words to express how you all made me feel. It was like I was home with my sisters aunties. May the good Lord bless you all and continue doing your work with love and care to all mankind. I am still amazed with ya'll patience kindness and love ❤️ wow. Those who are not permanent may you get permanent posts and those who are permanent may you be promoted and with high salary increases. To Arwyp management you trained them well and keep making sure the standard is not dropped.
