Alpine Volkswagen Pinetown
Based on recent customer reviews, Alpine Volkswagen Pinetown is facing significant customer experience challenges, particularly within its sales and service departments. Customers consistently mention unresolved mechanical faults on newly purchased vehicles, including engine warning lights, gearbox failures and brake issues. A recurring theme is poor follow-up communication, with clients describing difficulty reaching managers and waiting extended periods for updates, parts, licence plates or repairs. While isolated praise highlights helpful individual staff members who went above and beyond during a holiday breakdown, the broader sentiment reflects frustration with accountability, professionalism and after-sales support.

The worst dealership/ brand/ customer service that I ever came across. My 2024 T-Cross was purchased in Oct 2025, since December 2025 vehicle has been in and out of the service department. Currently the vehicle is with the dealership since March and they cannot fine the fault why the vehicle looses power and goes into limp mode. The sensors that VW SA requested to change are not available in the country. I was told its ordered from Germany, gone 6 weeks still no delivery. Was told today that the warehouse in Germany don't have stock, so no one knows when it will be resolved. Not a single call from the management team to apologise or provide any assistance.

I am extremely disappointed with my experience with Chery after-sales service @Alpine VW Service Center in Pinetown. My vehicle has been off the road due to a repair requiring a part that was apparently unavailable anywhere in the province. While I understand that delays can happen, what has frustrated me most is the lack of practical customer support during this process. I have been left without transport for an extended period and, despite repeatedly explaining the impact this has had on my daily responsibilities, I was simply advised that no courtesy vehicles are available. Other than apologies, no meaningful alternative solution has been offered. One of the reasons I chose Chery over other brands was because I believed the after-sales service and customer care would be reliable. Unfortunately, this experience has left me questioning that decision. Customers understand that problems can happen with any vehicle brand — what matters is how the situation is handled. At this stage, I feel unsupported, inconvenienced, and extremely disappointed with the overall experience.

Unhappy with a brand new TCross that keeps on showing solid engine light on the dashboard for days but the dealership service department can't solve the problem. They've been trying to solve the problem since Jan we are now in April. As for the manager who is not picking up calls😭🤐

I bought a BRAND NEW polo tsi from vw Alpine pinetown end of September 2025 after 3 weeks my breaks were giving me a problem they replaced it on a new vehicle which I wasn't happy with but I was not difficult and accepted it. The problem continued I took it to vw south africa who then told me the dealership said there's nothing wrong with my vehicle so they won't assist. I took it to another vw and they picked up the faults ! I then had to go to the ombudsman as vw south africa did not assist. Vw Alpine pinetown has not bothered replying to the motor industry ombudsman. I will now be taking legal action with my lawyer. All I can say is @vw Alpine Pinetown and @vw south africa they don't care about their clients.

We currently having the worst experience with them. My mom bought a car on the 28th of February and they promised us our license discs and plate will follow, and they gave us the paper temporary license which is expiring today! I’ve been asking when are we getting the plates since Monday and our sales man said “Probably Tuesday” it’s Friday today ! He’s really not making this experience pleasant for us ! It’s like we were giving the car for free and now we begging them for the plates !! This is very unprofessional! We can’t be waiting for so long so plates from the 28th of February!!

We purchased this vehicle on 8 November 2025. By 21 November 2025, the gearbox had already began failing. Instead of taking responsibility under the Consumer Protection Act, VW Alpine Pinetown advised us to either use our own warranty or return the vehicle so they could dump it back into trade, verbatim from the salesman (MARK): “Bring it back, we’ll just sell it back to trade.” This response shows complete negligence, zero accountability and no integrity whatsoever. On 6 December 2025, the check engine light came on. Diagnostics confirmed an engine fault on the Cylinder 3 injector input circuit. That is two major mechanical failures in under one month. Despite this, the vehicle was sold as a VW MasterCar, which is supposed to guarantee quality, safety, and a proper inspection. This was NOT a MasterCar, it was a dangerous, defective vehicle falsely passed off as certified. Staff Conduct: 🚩🚩🚩 Mark (Salesman): Mark was friendly only until the sale was completed. Once the vehicle developed problems, his attitude changed completely. He became extremely sarcastic, rude, dismissive and unhelpful. His conduct was shocking, we have never dealt with a salesperson this unprofessional or disrespectful. While communication did occur, his tone and attitude were consistently disrespectful, making an already stressful situation far worse. And any attempt to resolve the issue was met with indifference. Grant (DP) Grant was challenging to deal with at the beginning, however toward the end he made a genuine effort to assist. His approach became more open, more constructive and far easier to engage with. He was polite, calm, and professional, took the time to listen and tried to help where possible despite inheriting a difficult situation. This improvement in attitude and willingness to assist was appreciated and stood out positively compared to the earlier stages of this experience. We cancelled the deal after the engine failure. VW Alpine Pinetown refused to cover the cost of a rental vehicle unless we purchased another car through them. Although they attempted to source a replacement vehicle, they were unable to find anything within our price range, leaving us with no viable alternative. As a result, we were forced to pay out of pocket for a rental vehicle simply to meet our daily transport needs. Needless to say, we did not and will never purchase another vehicle through this dealership. This is one of the worst dealership experiences imaginable.

On the 23rd Sept, I took my car for a normal oil service. Was advised by Lynette(service manager) that car has a bad sound n i need to take back to VW for assessment n she said she was suspecting gear box problem ( mind you the car had no alerts when i took it for service except for the service alert) On the 01 Oct I took da car to VW n was advised that da needs to be left behind as they would need to strip da car I then left da car n when I enquired on turn around time, was advised that the car would be back by Monday following week n I was shocked n asked if they could push for Friday(3/10) delivery n Lyn advised that she would try n push for my request. On Monday the 6th, Lynn called me to ask strip da car because now she was not sure if should go ahead n fix da car as she suspected that I damaged da car n I was shocked that da car was just taken from Wednesday until Monday with no work done I then gave her a go ahead coz I knew that I never did any amendments to da car... she then indicated that if da damage was found to be from my side I would have to pay R9800 After that Monday, no updates from the dealership were received... I then called on Wednesday (the 8th) n couldn'tget hold of Lyn requested to speak to her line manager, n Ms Custury answered n arraged fr Lynn to call me.... Lynn then advised that they were waiting for insurance approval of gear box replacement... On Friday I went physically to check on da car but was advised that VW insurance needed them to strip the clutch n they were waiting for da insurance approval on whether to replace both gear box n clutch or only to replace parts of the gear box or the full gearbox. Again, i asked for turnaround time, n Lynn said they needed just a day to work on that, n i asked if they were working on Saturday... I left with an expectation that the car would be fixed on Saturday n latest Monday would recived back.. Again no contact was made from da dealership side, I then called Lynn to check but no improvement...I then called complaints department n was promised that I would receive a call within 48 hours- case number ***9 spoke Tenesha but no call was received until now. I find VW to be so unprofessional, no client centricity, no care ....I still dont have my car 😕 I dont even know what stage are they in ...everytime I call no one knows whats happening, Lynn keeps me holding n would be asking around before she advises me, it's pathetic
