Shackleton Credit Management
Based on recent customer reviews, Shackleton Credit Management is facing significant customer dissatisfaction centred on its debt collection practices. Customers consistently mention being pursued for accounts they believe are prescribed, already settled, or written off, with several alleging they were never properly notified before adverse credit listings were applied. A recurring theme is frustration over delays in removing paid-up flags from credit bureau records, alongside complaints about poor communication, unanswered emails, and difficulty reaching agents. Several reviewers also raise concerns about aggressive tactics, perceived misrepresentation, and the long-term impact on their credit profiles.

If I could give them a minus 0 I would. Till this day I have never received proof of me owing them as my account with ABSA was closed. They use scare tactics and threats on top of that they ridiculously inflate prices for accounts that I do not own. No ethics or morals in their work.

If you are being contacted by Shackleton Credit Management or Lynn & Main Attorneys, read this to protect yourself from their "cunning" legal traps. They operate a debt-buying tag-team that exploits consumers who don't know the law. THE TACTICS THEY USE: 1. THE "GHOST" SUMMONS: One of their most cunning tactics is issuing a summons to an old address (your "domicilium" from years ago) where they know you no longer live. By doing this, you never receive the papers, you don't defend the case, and they get a "Default Judgment" against you behind your back. 2. THE PRESCRIPTION TRAP: They buy "junk debt" (old credit cards/loans) that is 5, 10, or even 15 years old. Legally, most debt expires (prescribes) after 3 years. They will bully you into a "small payment" or "settlement." DO NOT DO IT. Any payment or written admission restarts the 3-year clock on expired debt. 3. THE LEGAL BLUFF: Lynn & Main acts as the "in-house" legal arm. They use aggressive legal letterheads to create a sense of panic, making demand letters look like court summons to trick you into a payment plan. 4. INFLATED FEES: They often add massive "collection commission" and legal fees that can double the original amount. HOW TO PROTECT YOURSELF: - DO NOT acknowledge the debt over the phone. - CHECK YOUR CREDIT REPORT: Check ClearScore or TransUnion regularly. If they’ve taken a "Ghost Judgment" against you at an old address, it will show up there first. - DEMAND PROOF: Tell them: "I do not acknowledge this debt. Provide a full statement of account and proof that this debt has not prescribed." - RAISE PRESCRIPTION: If you haven't paid or acknowledged a debt for 3 years (and no summons was served to you personally), it is likely prescribed. Under Section 126B of the NCA, it is ******* for them to collect prescribed debt. WHO TO REPORT THEM TO: If they harass you, attempt to collect expired debt, or serve summons to outdated addresses maliciously, lodge a formal complaint with: 1. National Credit Regulator (NCR): For ******* collection of prescribed debt (ncr.org.za). 2. Council for Debt Collectors: For ********* behavior and harassment (cfdc.org.za). 3. Legal Practice Council (LPC): To report misconduct by Lynn & Main Attorneys regarding their "cunning" summons tactics (lpc.org.za). 4. Credit Ombud: To dispute any ******* listings or judgments (creditombud.org.za). Knowledge is your best defense. Don't let their legal muscle intimidate you into paying debt you don't legally owe.

I am writing to lodge a formal complaint and seek urgent assistance regarding the conduct of a company called Shackleton Credit Management. Approximately two years ago, I was contacted by this company, which claimed to be acting as legal representatives for Old Mutual. They informed me that I needed to make payment arrangements for a credit account I allegedly owed to Old Mutual from about eight years ago. Based on their representation, I initially believed they were genuine lawyers working on behalf of Old Mutual. However, I have since discovered that Shackleton Credit Management is not a law firm but rather a debt collection company that purchases old, closed, or written-off accounts. It appears they misrepresented themselves and used deceptive tactics to pressure me into paying money that I do not owe. Furthermore, they have threatened to blacklist me with the credit bureau or place my name under judgment if I fail to comply. I find this behaviour *********, misleading, and deeply distressing. I kindly request that your office to investigate this matter and advise on the appropriate steps I can take to protect myself from these unfair practices. Thank you for your attention and assistance in this matter. Yours sincerely Rebone Mosoma

I would like to share my bad experience with shackleton on which they wrongfully put themselves on my credit record with Capitec, that was closed and written off. They did so without notifying me so that I could acknowledge it. How could they do such I'm very disappointed in how they operate.

Good day I paid my debt finished at the end of July. I was promised i would get a paid up letter as soon as i make the last payment. I have sent numerous emails to ask for the the paid up letter. This company put a red flag on my name and i made arrangements with them. On my credit bureau it still shows I am owing R1800 which is not the case. Please help me in this regard. I don't know what to do anymore. Trisha Briekwa
