Date of Incident: Wednesday, 1 April 2026 Location: Checkers UNIQ Store, Rosebank Mall Time: Approximately 6:30 PM Dear [Manager/Customer Service Team], I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding my recent experience at your Rosebank Mall branch. Upon entering the store at approximately 6:30 PM, my wife selected an item and proceeded to pay at the newly installed self-service pay station. Unfortunately, the system proved highly problematic. Despite employees being present, none were able to operate or resolve issues with the machine. We scanned the item, app**** our Checkers card for points/discounts, and completed payment via our bank card. The amount was successfully debited from our account. However, the system then displayed the message: “Printer is out of paper, please wait for a cashier to assist.” At this point, none of the cashiers knew how to resolve the issue. A staff member, Palesa, informed me that the payment would be reversed the following day and insisted that I leave the item behind. I requested written confirmation of this policy, as I had proof of payment from my banking app. Despite assurances, the reversal did not occur the next day. I had to firmly insist on leaving with the item I had already paid for, despite not receiving a receipt. This prolonged interaction caused me to remain in the store past closing time (after 7 PM). Palesa further admitted that this was not the first time such an issue had occurred, yet no solution has been implemented. This experience was extremely frustrating. The system is unreliable, staff were untrained in handling the issue, and no apology was offered for the inconvenience. Instead, I was met with dismissive remarks such as “take your item” and “you’ll come pay tomorrow when the money is reversed.” To date, no reversal has taken place. I respectfully request the following: Immediate review and upgrade of the self-service payment system, or a return to the traditional cashier-operated process. Proper training for staff to handle technical issues and customer concerns professionally. A formal apology for the inconvenience and poor service experienced. I trust that Checkers will take this matter seriously and implement corrective measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
Such a big establishment using Wumdrop as their delivery partner. Do you'll not read their reviews? They are even unlikely recommended but you'll use them which gives you'll a bad picture and name. Come right please you'll making customers angry with this **** service.
I am expecting a collect and delivery from Makro. I made arrangements for this specific delivery 5 days ago! Thabo Motsoeng 1 if your drivers assigned to my delivery is no where to be found! I was on the call With Shumani a customer service agent. Whilst on the call she.tried calling your driver with no nswer. How do you'll assign work to someone who is so irresponsible. It's almost 2pm and he has not even picked up my fridge from Makro for delivery and to collect my fridge that I am returning. Keeping in mined I emptied out my whole ****ing fridge everything is out it's hot and might go. Off but you'll don't give a 2 ****s! Poor and pathetic
Purchased a fridge from Makro which was on sale. Paid R5 6999, saving close to R1 500... Only to find out few months down the line that it had a defect.. Recieved the email below : Good day Mahomed, Kindly note that Hisense has issued a credit note, and you have 7–14 working days to process an exchange. The store has advised that the fridge you initially purchased has been discontinued. You may therefore choose one of the following options: Select an alternative product (including a different brand), Request a refund, or Top up the credit note to purchase another fridge. Please note that failure to take any of the above actions within the stipulated timeframe will result in the forfeiture of the credit note. Regards, Kamogelo Manyelo.. My credit is R5699, but there is no price of fridge available at the price thats just like the fridge I initially purchased. What's a point of a 2 year warranty if a fridge cannot be replaced. Obviously now I'm at a loss to fork out more money to top up to buy a new fridge. This is nonsense. The credit should have been the original as it was on a sale unless that's what the what fridge is worth?!
I recently purchased a Hisense fridge during the Black Friday sale, which is still under warranty. The fridge has experienced issues, and Hisense has assessed the appliance and credited me for a new fridge. However, Makro is claiming that the fridge is discontinued, despite it being available online. I am being asked to pay additional costs for a replacement, despite being eligible for a free replacement under warranty. My reference number is #2708B. I would appreciate it if you could assist me in resolving this matter as soon as possible. Thank you for your help.
Thurayya was very helpful from the start to end with my booking. Would definitely recommend her to anyone looking to rent a timeshare. 👍🏽
I purchased a Volkano smart watch, it was used for a few days and I had noticed the battery life is poor, I had to charge it every day but on the box the battery says it last upto 3 days. I decided to return it for a refund which I clearly typed on the takealot app the reason for return is because I am not happy with the battery life of the watch. My return got declined because it was 'used' by a agent on a call. Now how does a customer experience battery problems without using a device? Does it even make sense? On email I get replies from more than 3 different people assisting with my issue and all 3 give me different stories. The latest reply I got from Gillian was my item was already shipped back to me and once I recieve it I need to re log a return and select 'defective' and not 'change my mind', when I initially selected the 'item does not meet my expectations'. The service delivery is poor and also why could they not resolve it when it was in their hands already? This is acceptable and a waste of time. It not worth buying devices from takealot because when something goes wrong they make you run around like you in a circus. DISAPPOINTED!
I purchased a Valeo clutch kit from Midas Alberton, my mech fitted it on and used copper slip in the process. Clutch was giving problems as there was a shudder on take off and reverse. Sent the clutch in for claim and got rejected because of the copper slip used in process. Purchased a LUK kit, followed same process with copper slip car moves fine. Lost out money for the Valeo kit. Lesson learnt - cheaper product doesn't solve the problem. spend a little more it will give you less headche in the future.

On the 08/04/2016 my Samsung A5 phone was on charge (1 year and 1 month old), while it was on charge the phone overheated it melted the charger, melted the back of the phone n even burnt my bedsheet (as in the picture) when seeing my phone like this I was shocked as this could have turned out much worst with my 4 year old sleeping next to where the phone was on charge. The very next day I had taken my phone to Samsung smart care centre in Constantia business Park on 14th Avenue where I was told they will contact me within 7-14 days. its going for almost a month now and I have not been contacted once. I was cool with it at first but this now is driving me insane as when I was there and enquired if they could rent me a phone they told me straight no. Now im sitting using an old phone which I can barley do much with it where as I have a smart phone which Im still paying for on contract every month sitting somewhere at Samsung. In my opinion I still think the old phones where the batteries were removable were much more safer than this new style built in batteries.
