Very disappointing moving experience with unexpected additional costs

I had a very disappointing experience with this moving company and, based on my experience, I would not use their services again. The move was from one province to another, so it was a significant move. We received a quote without the company first coming to inspect the items to be moved. Before the move, we provided a detailed list of the items that needed to be packed and transported. We paid the deposit to confirm the moving date, as required in their email. We were also advised that packing would start at 08:00. However, on the day of the move, we were only contacted at approximately 09:30 and informed that the team would arrive at around 10:30. Another issue related to payment. Their email stated that the balance would be payable when the truck arrived at the destination. In our case, this did not happen. After our items had been packed, we received an increased quote with an additional cost of approximately R11,000 for items allegedly not specified, despite us having provided a detailed list beforehand. We were then required to make full payment before the truck left their depot. This created a very stressful situation, as our belongings had already been packed and we felt under pressure to make the payment so that the move could continue. The truck also only left five days later than originally planned and arrived at the destination at approximately 22:30 on a Wednesday evening. This meant that the unloading continued very late into the night, which made the move even more difficult and resulted in items being placed wherever possible rather than in an organised way. Overall, the experience was stressful, poorly communicated, and very disappointing. I would not recommend this company based on the way our move was handled. Kind regards, Cordula
