Clueless Standard Bank
I have this old Bluebean card that I have been paying loyally for years. My card has expired, I am not on the app and Standard Bank has stopped sending me statements after I went to the bank years ago to change my email address, but I still paid it every month. I am now able to settle the amount that I owe and close the account.. A couple of weeks ago I went to a Standard Bank branch to do this. They put me on the phone with their credit card division, they asked me some questions to verify myself and then told me I have to wait till the 10th to see the amount that I have to settle and then I can just phone the credit card division directly. I phoned them after the 10th and then they couldn't verify me and told me I have to go back to the bank to get verified. Shortly after this I got emails from Standard bank that my details have been leaked. Now I really want to close this account urgently, because I don't want to do business with anybody that cannot look after my information. So I go to the bank to get verified again. Now i phoned the credit card division again and again they cannot help me because I have to go back to the branch to get verified again. Are these people actually serious? Very very bad bank where they definitely don't know what they are doing!
