It seems FreedomLife (administered by Meerkat) is in the business of collecting money and then forcing policies to lapse. My mother's policy gets paid around the 27th of the month. Now the payment was erroneously missed in April 2026 and they sent a text that the policy has lapsed - not a reminder that payment has not been made. They have tried to lapse the policy about 2 times before. This is very unprofessional and Checkers/Shoprite needs to do something about this as we trusted them when we got involved in these policies. The law categorically states that a funeral cover policy has 30 days grace period for the premium to be rectified.
I clearly have not learnt from experience. I had a traumatic experience with this company back in 2018. I was only reminded when I tried to contact them on Twitter and Twitter showed me my old tweets dating back to 2018. Form what I see the company has never improved. My parcel was created and picked up on the 17th of August in Durban (big hub). It finally left Durban on the 19th and arrived in Gqeberha (big hub) on the 19th. The parcel is now lying in state in Gqeberha without any movement. I hope that I have now learned a lesson that I will not forget. This is not a service worth using and the 24/72 hour delivery promise is a lie. Since I posted on a Sunday I was at least expecting delivery on Tuesday but nah!
I ordered my phone on 09.08.2025. Today is the 13th and there is just no communication from SnapCraze. Also, they do not respond to their online ChatBot nor do they answer telephones. Now their system shows "No order has been made yet" yet full payment was processed.
