Do not use Cemair if you need assistance for passengers with disabilities
Never use Cemair when you need assistance for a passenger. I booked for 2 passengers which needed assistance from OR Tambo to George Airport and back. Besides the fact that you need to pay an additional fee when a passenger needs assistance, very little assistance is provided. On the flight down to George wheelchairs were used to get on the bus. When the bus dropped us as the airplane there were no assistance with one passenger stuck on the bus. With very little mobility the passenger had to struggle to get off the bus with no assistance in sight. Eventually some of the ground staff assisted the passenger to get to the plane. On the way back 6 passengers used wheelchairs. At George Airport the staff had to run around to get enough wheelchairs and we waited patiently for our turn to be assisted. When we got to OR Tambo only the two passengers that I booked were assisted with a PAU unit. It took about an hour to get from the plane to the baggage carousel. When we got there, the next flight's baggage were already on the carousel and the remaining passengers' suitcases who needed assistance and our suitcases were placed on the ground next to the carousel. The other passengers who needed assistance were standing around and could not believe their predicament with comments like where were the wheelchairs! The plane itself was not so pleasant with toilet paper running out and the toilet not clean.
