Medshield stole my savings for an approved hospital admission and refuse to reprocess the claims from in hospital. The employees from customer service refuse to cooperate with the authorization team to process claims correctly!!! Jeremy refused to transfer me to the team leader and dropped the call on my ear
I had an emergency on the 2/12/2025 and my nearest dsp hospital was Midstream, when I got there I was informed that I need to pay upfront and I still had casualty benefits. I stayed over a night, now I am getting accounts from the hospital, the specialists as Medshield does not pay them in full as the hospital is charging above scheme rate!!!!!!!!!!why the hell do you make contracts with hospitals when you know very well that they charge higher??that hospital is the nearest hospital to my home. this is unacceptable as I use the correct channels as per scheme rules and I need to fit the bill. I will not settle that bill and you must assign hospitals to members that you can afford to pay in full!!!!
They dont have a valid number and use alot of whatspapp.i was promised to be paid after paying the attorney fees.next thing i need to pay 10k prior to get the loan.they never disclosed additional payments and most payments were done via cash send.the Markus guy doesnt explain company procedures only tells me to pay again.i want my refund as i only signed the attorney fees.the number that they use for whatsapp are +27 63 394 8232 ,0640495879 ,+27 64 292 9743.as a client i have the right to know prior of upfront payments,they billed me for services i didnt ask.
I had an admission letter, and I sent it through to them, they required more details from my current gp and also my previous gp, I wouldn't have known of this if i did not call the scheme to find out. I assisted in getting them all the information required and that was Thursday. Friday I did follow ups and Medshield blames Medscheme and back and forth, some consultants confirmed that they have received documents and some say no. I have spent a lot of times calling to get a yes or a no, spoke to the team leader Ndhivhuwo and she said that there will be an answer on Monday, yet no one could help me and needed to get admitted. Called the team leader in the morning on Tues and she said that she will have feedback and will call me back at 10am. that never happened, i ended up calling to follow up and she said that the medical advisor is in the meeting and cannot do anything about it. the hospital followed up on my behalf and they were informed that turn around time is 5 working days. to my understanding there is only one person who approves and declines AUTH? so when that medical advisor is on leave we all must wait until their Jesus comes back ??i called Ndibhuwho asking what is going on and she said because the request to admission letter had a history that i was once hospitalized in 2012 and they want information from that dr..that dr is no longer in Gauteng under netcare but currently now a medi-clinic dr in vanderbijl park..i was patient but i can never advise anyone to join this medical aid. Their service delivery is so poor .now i am forced to be discharged as they are still busy with AUTH..if anything happens to me Medshield will be the cause.
the have a lovely team who is hardworking. they are friendly and made my stay pleasant. i highly recommend them .thank you so much from Patrick in admissions and the entire team and doctors in the ER.
