I was contacted by a consultant from MSD Consulting who led me to believe that my loan repayments would be reduced if I signed up for debt review. Based on this representation, I agreed to proceed. After reviewing the information more carefully, I realized that the information provided was misleading. I also want to state clearly that I do not require debt review, as I can afford to pay all my bills and meet my financial obligations. I therefore cancelled the debt review by email within a few hours of signing, before any services were rendered, and cancelled the debit order mandate. Despite this, today I received a call from a consultant named Khanya, demanding that I pay a cancellation fee. I find this unacceptable and not in line with fair business practice, given that: The cancellation was done within hours No services were rendered The agreement was entered into based on misleading information In terms of the Consumer Protection Act, consumers may not be charged unreasonable cancellation fees or fees for services not rendered, particularly where cancellation occurs within a cooling-off period. I formally dispute the cancellation fee and request that MSD Consulting: Withdraw the cancellation fee immediately Confirm in writing that the debt review has been cancelled with no charges Confirm that no adverse listing or action will be taken against my name
