I rented a unit through iGrow and moved out at the end of March 2026. When I moved in, iGrow instructed me to pay a utility deposit directly to Voltano for water and electricity. I completed Voltano’s application, paid the deposit, and submitted proof of payment. iGrow was copied on all the correspondence. When I moved out and requested my deposit back, Voltano informed me that they refund deposits to the property owner, not the tenant. I contacted iGrow to get the owner’s details so I could follow up, since I don’t have direct contact with the owner. After multiple emails, iGrow distanced themselves from resolving the issue. Voltano has emailed the owner confirming payment was made and that the deposit should be refunded to me, as I provided proof. The owner has not responded to me. I cannot contact the owner directly as they were blind-copied due to POPIA. I forwarded all correspondence to iGrow and asked them to either facilitate the refund or provide the owner’s contact details. I have not received a response. When I call, the agent dealing with the account says she is busy and will call back, but no follow-up happens once they know it’s me. iGrow managed the property and arranged the Voltano setup, so I believe they have a responsibility to ensure the deposit is returned or to connect me with the owner. At this point, I have been ignored and have no way to recover my money. I would like iGrow to intervene with the owner to pay my money or provide me with the correct contact details so this can be resolved.
Outsurance advertise that they will pay you R400 if they can't beat your current insurance. I received such a call and I told the gentleman that I don't think he'll be able to beat my insurance, but he insisted and said he'll give me R400 if he can't. I thought ok, give it a go. Unfortunately he couldn't beat my current insurance, and tried to sell some other adding products via the other departments which I gladly obliged, but again, not in my price range. The call was ended and I received a sms with an OTP number stating I must copy this to claim the R400 when I receive an email. A couple of days no email received. I call Outsurance to inquire and they confirmed my details again and told me the promotional manager will call me back. A couple of days later still nothing. I feel the R400 payment is not as energetic or important as when they call you up and ask your time and promise to pay that money should they have "wasted" your time, as you knew already what you had but give them the time of day because you have nothing to loose. Outsurance, don't treat potential clients like they were the ones that hassled you, because you never know whether the clients would actually wanted some of your other products, but your ways of doing business might be offsetting entirely....
