bought bad of karoo dog food at Seadoone petshop science it came with a free bucket of dog treats. realised later at home i bought puppy instead of adult( the writing on the bag is very small and subtle) anyhow just wanted to change the bag to adult. they told me upon return i must now pay for the free bucket of dog treats because the special is over. this is not on that is ******* and against the CPA. i was compelled to exchange the bag of dog food and return the bucket of treats unless i now paid for it when it was free when i bought it. That is a **** shame on you Checkers

On the 8th of April I returned two bags of 2kg Montego Karoo cat food to your Petshop Science store at The Whalecoast Mall in Herm****. Prior to that, I contacted Montego customer care to explain that the food was not palatable to my 3 cats. I sent them photos of the batch numbers as well as proof of purchase from your Petshop Science store in Herm****. I also told Colleen Daniels of Montego, that I would return the food that afternoon. She said that's absolutely fine, as she arranged with Marcello to refund me. I thought it strange as I never received an SMS to notify me that I had been refunded once I had left Petshop Science store that afternoon. Yesterday, I was horrified to see on my bank statement, that Marcello had in fact CHARGED ME R539.98, instead of REFUNDING ME with R399.98(The special at the time was R199.99 per 2kg bag). So in other words, Checkers owes me R939.96, and that's excluding the stress and petrol money you have cost me going back and forth. This is a serious error that constitutes a violation of my consumer rights. I have all my receipts, bank statements showing the deduction, return slips, and any correspondence with the store as well as with Montego Karoo who contacted Marcello. This morning I was told that I can come to the store and be refunded. I collected the 2 bank bags and assumed the amount to be correct only to find they short-changed me by R100!!!. It's a ****** farce!. Absolutely hopeless!!!. Marcello said he didn't place the money inside the bank bags. I then asked him, who did, and he told me, it doesn't matter. Yet on my receipt it has the Petshop Science logo for the refund?. Beware of Checkers. I advise customers to check their bank statements more regularly. It is time that Checkers pays for the **** ups they make! Unfortunately for Checkers I will forward and share my experience with Mandilakhe Tshwete, journalist for IOL News. If I never checked my statement, I would never have known that your Checkers employee charged, and not refunded me for the two bags of cat food due to utter negligence and lack of care!. A word of advice, CHECK your bank statements regularly!. These issues with Checkers are becoming more and more frequent and systemic, and customers should file a complaint with consumer protection commissions. This has to stop! It's endemic to Checkers, and they have gotten away with it for far too long!

I had such a wonderful experience at the PET shop located in Lenz Quarter! From the moment I walked in, I was greeted with genuine friendliness and professionalism. The store manager, Mxolisi, went above and beyond to make sure I found exactly what I needed for my pets. His knowledge and passion for animals really stood out, and he patiently answered all my questions with great care. At the checkout, Nontokozo, the cashier, made the process smooth and pleasant. So this is the face that suppose to be ur friendly manager..He is the manager at Bronkhorstspruit mall Pet store science shop... He is the most rude and arrogant person I met..we were in the store in the week to look at the specials he was rude ..passed it off as well a bad day...today we walked in to buybthe items on special He was rude to my kids at first said they notballwed to touch anything ..I left it as I was going for lr the dog food....he went on with them so I approached him.and asked watvis the matter and not a way to speak to ur customers and I want to speak to the manager...He smirked and said He is the manager n the owner....I said u mot as no owner does that to their customers.... told him I will be taking the matter up further he was rude and ignored me totally as speaking to myself....he's last comment was "these Indian People" I wentvinto the website and surprisingly not alot of negative remarks of this store...worse experience ever.... Disappointed that franchise uses people like these as there ambassadors to their stores..... He's dont care attitude and unapologetic persona is a no win to a business entity.

Major disappointing and non existent customer service at the Omni branch, my very first engagement with a petshop branch proved to be a rude awakening to hat sent me rushing back to my go to absolute pet across the road, the staff is rude they ignored customers offered no service

I've had many good experiences with Petshop science. I shop here monthly for both my cats' and dogs' food. Never had big problems and they usually have what I want in stock. However I've been noticing a something that changed when they've moved their online presence onto the Checkers Sixty60 app. A product would be advertised as much cheaper online, but when you go into the store the same product would be marked down, but not as much as it was online. It does not state that the deal is online only as far as I'm aware? So why is a product R50 more expensive in store than online through the Checkers Sixty60 app? If I ordered through the app, the same product would still be delivered to me? It's still on "special" but the special isn't the same as on the app. This is misleading as I've budgeted for the product but when I want to buy it myself in person, the product is no longer the same price as advertised online. This happened at the Richards Bay branch. The item I'm referring to is Iams dry cat food. Maybe someone else has noticed this as well.

As a valued and concerned Checkers shopper it was brought to my attention by Pet Science store at Lenz Quarter that the store in question was instructed to remove all their ostrich products for dogs. As a dog ***** my wife and i were thrilled when Pet Science opened their doors last year November and to our amazement they had stock of ostrich products as our dog only eats ostrich treats. We were too happy to be shopping at Pet Science however this year we keep going every week to the store hoping to get ostrich treats for him but to no avail. This is extremely disappointing as the manager of the store says that they were instructed to remove all their ostrich products for dogs.

On Sunday 2025-11-09 I went to the Petshop science store in Estcourt as I was looking for a soft raw food for my Jack Russell. I asked the lady who was behind the counter for assistance with feeding instructions on one of the raw foods. She looked up at me and said "I don't know" and carried on doing her filing.
