This level of service is completely unacceptable. Ignoring patients and families, refusing to communicate, and deliberately dropping calls shows a complete lack of professionalism, compassion, and respect. The Constitution of the Republic of South Africa, particularly Section 9 (Equality), prohibits ************** on the basis of race. Furthermore, the Patients’ Rights Charter guarantees all patients the right to respect, dignity, and proper information regarding their healthcare. The conduct displayed by staff members at this hospital appears to be a direct violation of these principles. I therefore request the following: A full investigation by the Quality Assurance Department into the conduct of the staff on duty that day. Appropriate disciplinary action against the individuals responsible for ignoring patients and disconnecting calls.I would like to formally raise my concern regarding the rude and dismissive behaviour displayed by certain nurses and administrative clerks at Mamelodi Hospital. Patients and their families arrive at the hospital during stressful and often frightening situations. In such circumstances, the least they should expect is basic respect, professionalism, and assistance. Unfortunately, the conduct we experienced was the opposite — being ignored, spoken to without courtesy, and not being given proper guidance. Healthcare staff and administrative personnel have a responsibility to treat members of the public with dignity and empathy. A simple greeting, willingness to assist, and clear communication can make a significant difference to families seeking help for their loved ones. I strongly urge hospital management to address this behaviour and remind staff of the importance of professionalism, compassion, and respect when dealing with the public.

This hospital's staff has no remorse. They purposefully insert the drips incorrectly when working with my mother. They conducted a lumbar puncture with my and never even gave the anaesthetic time to set in which left her with unbearable pain. Her arms are covered in bruises. She still has two weeks left of being in hospital and I don't even want to imagine how much worse they could make her stay.

Let me first by saying, this Hospital doesn't even deserve a one star rating. Mamelodi Regional Hospital is failing its patients in the worst ways possible. The level of neglect, rudeness, and unprofessionalism displayed especially by the nurses is beyond unacceptable. The very people who are supposed to provide care are the ones mistreating vulnerable patients. Firstly, the nurses swear at patients as if they are doing them a favor by being there. Instead of showing compassion, they speak in their own or foreign languages, completely ignoring whether or not the patient understands. If a patient dares to ask for clarity, they are met with attitude or completely ignored. It’s as if communication is intentionally withheld to make the patient feel helpless. To make matters worse, favoritism is a major issue. Patients who have connections or know someone within the hospital receive priority treatment, while the rest are left to suffer. This is not just unprofessional but *********. Every patient deserves equal care, regardless of their background. Ward 9 in particular, has been a nightmare for my family. The mother of my daughter has been crying almost daily because of the way these nurses speak to her/them throwing insults and attitude instead of offering help. She has been there for a full week now with our baby, yet she remains completely in the dark about the baby’s progress. No one takes the time to explain anything, and when we try to get answers, we are met with silence or attitude. She sometimes takes it upon herself to check if the baby is okay only to find something that needs urgent attention. My family had to call several times just to find out why the baby was admitted in the first place - something that should have been communicated immediately. The worst part is that this is not just our experience - many patients and their families feel the same way, but they remain silent out of fear. No one wants to speak up because they know their complaints will either be ignored or they will be treated even WORSE. If I had names, I would list every single one of them because no one who treats patients this way deserves to be in the medical profession. Mamelodi Hospital needs urgent intervention. Patients deserve respect, dignity, and proper care - not to be belittled and ignored.

They don't even deserve one star rating on a service they are rendering to public patients. I have an elderly mother who has an ingrown nail but unfortunately we have been here since 7:30 and no one is attending to us. The que marshall came and asked for patients with diabetes only and left. Not even a single word as to what is happening while queuing for over an hour. Not all of us have time to sit for that long especially when you know that you are on duty.
