I paid R2,200 for a fridge repair after being told the issue was due to a gas leak caused by rusty pipes. The technician, Brian, carried out a regas and removed a pipe, and advised that the issue was resolved. The fridge switched on and cooled slightly, but never reached proper temperature in either the fridge or freezer from that same evening, making it unusable. I reported the issue the following Tuesday morning (the repair had taken place Sunday evening) and attempted to arrange a follow-up. I was told a time would be confirmed, but this did not happen. When I advised that someone would only be available from 16:00, I later received a message asking if I was available immediately. I could not accommodate this and reiterated the 16:00 availability. There was no response after that, despite me following up later that evening and again the next day. A few days later, another technician was sent in his place, who advised that the issue was actually the compressor. I was subsequently told that this was a different issue and not covered under the 4-month guarantee. I then obtained an independent assessment, which confirmed a compressor fault and that the work listed on the invoice did not match what was found during inspection, with only regassing having been done. The report also indicates that the previous work may have contributed to further damage. I requested a partial refund following this assessment, but this has not been acknowledged. The initial repair did not resolve the issue, there was no proper follow-up, and communication ceased entirely. I am seeking a partial refund of R1,500 due to the failed repair and misaligned service.

They came three times to fix my fridge but the problem wasn't gone . Pretty sure never filled up enough gas and when you try to ask why they find excuses. Lost R600 rand supposedly to fill up gas but in no time it was empty again and their excuse was they need to do a complete repair that included checking leaks and other components and regas. Paid R1600 and after the service still no luck the problem was still there. Had to find other company to fix coz if someone can't fix a problem three times you can't trust the fourth time

Complaint Regarding Unsatisfactory Fridge Repair Service I am writing to formally express my dissatisfaction with the fridge repair service provided by Brian and Alan from Lariam appliances on November 26, 2024, and again on December 2, 2024. Unfortunately, the issue I originally reported remains unresolved, and my attempts to resolve this matter have been met with frustration and unprofessional customer service. On November 26, I explained to the technicians that the top section of my fridge was not cooling. After inspecting the appliance, Brian claimed the sensors needed replacing and quoted a cost of R3,100 for the repair. However, despite this, the problem was not addressed effectively. On December 1, I reported that the entire fridge had stopped cooling. Despite this escalation, Brian was sent again, despite my concerns about his apparent lack of experience with Bosch fridges. Brian instructed me to turn off the fridge and restart it at 5 PM. After following his instructions, I discovered that not only was the top section still not cooling, but the middle and vegetable compartments were also unaffected. This ongoing issue has caused me considerable frustration. The lack of clear communication regarding the root cause of the problem only added to my dissatisfaction. Seeking a resolution, I contacted a specialist technician with experience in Bosch fridges. Upon inspection, it became clear that the necessary repairs had not been performed, nor had any parts been replaced. The Lariam technicians had only tampered with the fridge, resulting in further damage to the fan, raising serious doubts about their competence and professionalism. I am deeply concerned that no genuine effort was made to resolve the issue. Additionally, I am disheartened by the fact that they have taken my money and are now unreachable—my calls, emails, and WhatsApp messages have been ignored. I am prepared to escalate this matter by reporting it to the SAPS and contacting local media outlets, including Claxton Newspapers, to raise awareness about substandard fridge repair services. I also strongly urge others to thoroughly review feedback and avoid service providers with poor reputations, unskilled technicians.
