I made a booking to Grootgeluk to stay from 30 October to 1 November 2025.The management was quick to respond and also shared directions to the place. On the day I was to check in, I informed that I would be running late due to work constraints, and a personal matter - My grandfather died and I needed to assist some family member with placed to sleep. We encountered rain on the day of check in forcing us to get roadside assistance in the rain. We shared with the property management as well. The property management told us to follow the directions from Google maps, causing us to drive into mud. My phone battery died hence I was unable to reach out. I am traveling with a 5 year old. When we finally reached the venue all phones were off forcing us to sleep outside. I am deeply appalled by the service and lack of understanding from the property. I confirmed I was aware of the penalty fee and all issues but them knowing that I was doing my best to arrive and traveling with a child and they still did not open the property is deeply unfair and insensitive.I slept outside and it is now morning, still no response to calls or text.No checkup if we are safe or not considering we were 500m away.If I was white I am pretty sure I would received some correspondence.

When we got there on Thursday the Wi-fi was out and got fixed only on Friday evening. After the Wi-fi was fixed it still went on and off the entire time. Nobody checked if everything was working in our cabin when they prepared it for us. We had no warm water until Friday afternoon after we realized in the morning that there was no warm water. The cabin was falling apart you could see where they had tried to fix something. There was a crack going all the way around the second room. The multi-plug they have in the cabin is so old and broken you can see inside it. Our basin in the kitchen kept falling out of the wall every time we opened the tap. Our shower was leaking water and the entire floor was wet, we asked them to fix it they came and put putty in that did not work instead of going into town and getting silicone to fix it properly. It kept on leaking for the rest of the weekend we were there. The beds are uncomfortable and the outside furniture. The place is pet friendly and they have their pets running around. We kept our dog with us so that she doesn’t disturb anybody else there on holiday. Their dog keeps on coming to the visitors' cabins begging for food and peeing on the boma and eating the food off of it. Their dog also tried biting our dog when It got too close. If you want a pet-friendly place then I think your animals should be used to other animals and better behaved. When you go on holiday you don’t want other people's dogs coming to you and bothering you if you want a peaceful break. The roads are so bad and unkept that on our way there we kept on sliding in the mud and while we were there on Friday alone three cars got stuck. On Thursday they had to call a towing company to come and get another guest's car they got damaged on their roads after it got stuck. The wildlife they advertise is not even their wildlife. One of the other guests there informed us that apparently why we didn`t see any of the wildlife was because it was another farmer's wildlife and he closed his gate so they had no way of coming through to the camp. So don`t expect to see any wildlife there except for sheep and if you are very lucky the zebras. The power went on and off the whole time we were there, they have a generator but only put it on at night for two hours. On Sunday morning we woke up with one of their trees that had fallen on our friend's car during the night. Later that morning when we wanted to check out all the guests had to be off the property by 10 am not just checked out but off the property. So the previous night it rained and the other two roads were so bad we couldn't drive on them. They arranged with the farmer across from them for us to go through their road to get back into town. We were 10 cars in total including two of the camp vehicles there to show us the way through and to assist if we got stuck. The road is so bad and slippery that we got stuck along with two other cars, The land ranger (Game drive vehicle) came to “help” us get out. Instead of stopping behind us to check if he needs to pull us from the front or back, he decided to go past us and miscalculated the space he had to get past us. (where he could have easily gone from the other side where there were no trees or anything) As they tried to go past us it collided with our car and pushed us forward before stopping. When we asked for the driver's license and name and details so that we could give it to our Insurance for the claim, we found out that he has no license and the vehicle wasn't road worthy. We eventually got his name. With the help of the other guests we got out, the workers of the farm were little to no help with this. We went to the closest police station to report the accident. We messaged the owner of the camp to get his insurance information and he just ignored us. We then emailed him. When he replied to the email the said that he can't be held responsible for the accident as there was a notice/disclaimer board on his property. That’s not how disclaimer boards work. This has been a waste of money and time. As the rules at the camp only apply to some people and not everybody.

Noisy people allowed to continuously carry on until 01:30 in the morning. Despite several complaints management still refused to deal will the offenders because they are black. Fear for these retards by the owners that ruined our entire weekend as well as other people’s time away from noise. I will definitely list this site on ALL my social platform sites to people NOT to visit. Loud music blaring day and night that upset the ENTIRE camp are seemingly overlooked for the comfort of the select few because the are quick to play the race card when they can’t have their way. I WILL BE seeking legal counsel to get a FULL refund for wasting my money at this place.
