AI Review Summary

Based on recent customer reviews, First Help Towing faces severe criticism across virtually every dimension of its service. Customers consistently report predatory billing practices, deceptive conduct at accident scenes, missing belongings from towed vehicles, and dangerous driving by tow truck operators. While a small number of reviews praise individual drivers for calm, professional roadside assistance, the overwhelming pattern reflects a deeply troubled customer experience that erodes trust in the business.

Top Strengths:

  • Staff Professionalism & Conduct: A small number of customers name specific drivers like Mohammed Mampa and Mark for calm, professional, and caring assistance at accident scenes, providing reassurance during stressful moments.

Poor service received when lodging claim for about R6,500 of which after numerous follow ups via mail and WhatsApp, got through on phone to be told only paying about R1,500 due to 2x excesses being deducted

Poor service received when lodging claim for about R6,500 of which after numerous follow ups via mail and WhatsApp, got through on phone to be told only paying about R1,500 due to 2x excesses being deducted. Also not happy monthly premium went up so much. After voicing unhappiness, was brought back down. Why must I be unhappy when have been with Auto & General since 2017. I thought they were committed to me as a customer, I am now not sure and question if I should not look elsewhere.

****** and ****mers of note.

On the 5th of March 2026, my sister got into an accident in Grobler park, and the First Help tow guy informed me and my sister that they would help us claim 3rd party insurance on the vehicle that cause the accident as my sister did not have insurance… And they will facilitate everything and we should not worry about anything! The car was towed to 91 Banfiled Rd to their storage… Admin lady called to ask for insurance information, just after they received the car. We informed them we don’t have insurance, it’s a 3rd party claim. And they said okay without explaining anything further about the process and we were rest assured that we will be assisted as promised. Fast forward today 9th March 2026, when following up on the status of the claim, my sister was informed that the car that caused the accident was taken to the panel beaters and my sister must now claim for herself from the other car’s insurance however she needs to pay a bill of R12940 to release her car! R12940 for towing a car less than 20km and storing for 4 days! And now suddenly they do not facilitate anything. They **** vulnerable individuals who genuinely need help! Don’t trust anything they tell you. Does not how genuine it sounds! Big ******!

Firsthelp is a ****

Do not make a mistake of allowing Firsthelp drivers to tow your car before taking pictures of how your car looked like it's unfortunate when you injured because they will ***** your belongings... I got into an accident and my jack and wheel spanner were ****** and when I report to first help they say the car got to them without the items, why would I have a spare wheel with no wheelspanner and jack? They protecting their drivers and they're hooligans behaviors, they themselves at Firsthelp are robbing people, how can car storage for 2 days amount to R12000 Stop playing with innocent people @Firsthelp

Absolutely Disgusting Service – This Company Preys on Accident Victims

My experience with **First Help Towing** has been the worst service experience of my life. On 2 March 2026, I was involved in a serious accident where another vehicle hit me directly at my door. I was in shock and not mentally okay when they arrived at the scene. I clearly told them that I do NOT have insurance and that I would be claiming from the third party’s insurance (the driver who hit me). They assured me that “insurance will cover everything” and insisted that my vehicle had to be taken for assessment. In a vulnerable state after a traumatic accident, they had me sign documents that I now believe were completely misleading. They took advantage of the fact that I was in shock. The next day, when I contacted the assessment repair center where my car was supposedly taken, I was told the vehicle was NOT there. The towing operators had already blocked my number, and the other contact number given to me was incorrect. At that point, I had no idea where my car was. Only the following day did I receive a call from their Roodepoort storage facility informing me my car was there. When I contacted the third-party insurance, I was bluntly told that this is a common tactic used to trap people into paying excessive towing and storage fees. When I went to fetch my car which is still drivable, I was told I had to pay R12,133. This was not even 48 hours later. It had not even been a full 24 hours before these charges supposedly accumulated. How does a bill reach R12,133 in less than two days? When I asked for management, I was told they “just work with contractors” and no one could properly explain the charges. The reception staff themselves looked uncomfortable, as if they know exactly what is happening but cannot say anything. While I was there, another gentleman told me his car had been there for five days and his bill was also R12,133. That alone speaks volumes. This company takes advantage of people when they are at their most vulnerable immediately after an accident. Blocking clients, giving incorrect contact details, moving vehicles without clear communication, and charging extreme amounts in less than 48 hours is unacceptable. I strongly believe this is a predatory practice and I urge others to be extremely cautious. Do not let them tow your vehicle unless you fully understand what you are signing. Absolutely unacceptable.
