Based on recent customer reviews, Consumer Friend receives sharply divided feedback from clients navigating debt review processes. Customers consistently praise individual consultants by name, highlighting prompt resolutions, clear communication, and professionalism when queries are escalated to the right person. However, a recurring theme is frustration with unresponsive email channels, difficulty obtaining paid-up letters and clearance certificates, and disputes over account balances and settlement discounts. Many clients report being passed between departments or ignored for weeks, while others note that interest and reporting issues continue affecting their credit profiles long after payments are completed.

I would like to sincerely thank Tracy for all her help throughout my debt review process. I have officially received my clearance certificate, and Tracy has been absolutely amazing from start to finish. She was always friendly, professional, quick to respond, and very helpful whenever I had questions or needed assistance. Her communication and support made a stressful process much easier for me. Thank you again, Tracy, for your excellent service and dedication. It is truly appreciated.

Tracey Jo, was able to swiftly and decisively resolve an issue I had been having for over a year. I commend her, from not sending me from pillar to post as many organisations do.

I entered debt review in March 2023, and a court order was granted in June 2023 confirming the restructured repayment plan. One of the accounts included in the court order was my Woolworths account. According to the court order, the repayment terms were adjusted from the original contract of R1,500 per month at 25% interest to R900 per month with a reduced interest rate of 5%. Since the court order was issued, I have not missed any payments. All payments were made consistently through the Payment Distribution Agency (PDA), and the account was administered by Consumer Friend. In February 2026, I settled the remaining balance of approximately R22,000, as reflected by Consumer Friend. I have also received a paid-up letter from Consumer Friend confirming that the account has been settled in full. However, I am currently experiencing an issue where Woolworths continues to update my credit profile using the original credit agreement, rather than the court-ordered restructured agreement. As a result, the account still appears active and reflects negatively on my credit report. My understanding is that once the account has been fully settled under the court-ordered debt review, the creditor should update the credit bureaus accordingly and close the account. I would therefore like clarity on the following: - Why is Woolworths still reporting the account under the original credit agreement, despite the court order restructuring the account? - Why has the account not been updated or closed on the credit bureaus after the balance was fully settled? - Is Woolworths not required to comply with the court order and update the credit bureaus accordingly? This matter is affecting my credit profile, and I kindly request that it be investigated and corrected as soon as possible.

despite emails to Consumer friend/ Maheshree John and from my DC giving 7 days, my request and my DC's request has fallen on deaf ears, leaving me as the consumer in limbo, 3.5 years of committed payments and not one missed payment yet Consumer friend refuse to reply or assist and make contradictions. I have paid for over 3 years no missed payments and Consumer friend is still charging contractual interest when they have accepted payments all this time and not terminated my arrangement, happy to collect money but just wont help a consumer begging for assistance. I remain committed are you to me and your other clients? Dear John, I hope you are well. I am writing personally as the affected consumer in this matter. To date, I have paid a total of R83 308,70 across the accounts under debt review. The original capital amount was R109 992,86. Despite this, the current alleged remaining balance stands at R127 639,66. ( This is across the 3 accounts with you ) In other words, I have paid approximately 75% of the original capital, yet the outstanding balance now reflects more than 116% of the initial amount. This position is difficult to reconcile and is understandably concerning. I have consistently comp**** with my obligations for over three years and remain committed to resolving this responsibly. However, I cannot reasonably consent to or proceed with court re-enrolment based on figures that remain disputed and unsupported by a detailed reconciliation. I respectfully request that this matter be treated as urgent and that the reconciled IPDA ledger, full transaction-level breakdown, and written justification for the balance escalations be provided within the stipulated timeframe. I remain committed to an amicable and constructive resolution and trust that we can resolve this without the need for further escalation. Kind regards, Darren Seath
