AI Review Summary

Based on recent customer reviews, City Of Cape Town faces significant challenges across nearly every dimension of its service delivery. Customers consistently describe unresolved water and electricity outages lasting days or weeks, billing errors that go uncorrected for months, and communication channels that fail to produce meaningful responses. While isolated instances of exceptional staff are praised, the overwhelming pattern reflects systemic breakdowns in responsiveness, turnaround, and financial administration.

Top Strengths:

  • Service Delivery & Staff Conduct: A small number of reviews praise specific staff members by name for going above and beyond, and a few branch visits for vehicle licensing are described as efficient with well-managed queues.

City of Cape Town Constantly Cuts Me Off

I have been overcharged for electricity in the sum of roughly R8,000.00. I called City of Cape Town and after holding, eventually got through and spoke to a consultant. After answering a million questions and explaining what the problem was, I was cut off. I phoned again and a different consultant answered, so I had to repeat the process - answer all the questions and explain the whole story again. Guess what? That's right, I was cut off. I am changing to prepaid forthwith before I lose the will to live.

Unhappy with the service that i receive from the City

Good day I retired in 2022 and bought a house in Plattekloof Glen as the area was quiet. But in 2025 the owner, 2 doors from me opened a business without my approval. During the day there is some times six vehicles. They started to park in the road in front of the property. I had to inform Law Iinforcement as they were blocking the road .To me it looks like we have no say about our property ,the mafia at the City of Cape Town will decide for us.

City insisting to walk in for refund appication-out of the area

Overpaid rates account and corrected. The City of Cape Town has elected to keep the money knowing I have moved out of the area completely and cannot do a walk in. City known for greed insisting I return to work during the height of the Covid pandemic resulting in me retiring early and losing 4 years of salary. Also allowing the City to expand. It will ultimately catch up with the City at some point

*********** Maintenance Staff

On Tuesday 03 February 2025 I've requested maintenance at the Unit I reside in at Scottsdene Kraaifontein called Gabriel Court, ref.no. **********51 and **********37 as per my son they responded to the request on the 04 February 2025 between 11:00 and 12:00, they went upstairs to the Unit above mine and came back and told my son they'll be back the next day, well today is Friday 06 February 2025 and they haven't pitched up, the blocked drain is unhealthy so is the leakage I've had trouble with before but they never took it seriously, the water is leaking through the light switch in the kitchen and still nothing has been done.
