I had the privilege of attending my eldest granddaughter's 7th birthday party held at Cedar Junction. I cannot begin to describe the disappointment it was for me. Going in to the venue you are faced with a big Afrikaans man that is very rude. We managed to get one trolley to get all the food etc. to the Lapa that my daughter booked for the function. Once all the family arrived the kids wanted to use the water slide for the small children which is quite safe and we could see them all. It wasn't two minutes when my granddaughter came running back crying her eyes out as she was shouted at by the life guards, as she did not know that she had to stand in a queue to go down the slide. 7 years old, I truly think the life guards looking after the small children's slides should have the necessary s****s to work with children of those ages. I have never seen my granddaughter with puffy red eyes in her whole life. It was quite traumatic for her. Once the function was finished, my daughter went to get a trolley for us to get all the stuff back to the car. No trolley was available and her and her husband decided to use the table top to pack things on and get it to the car that way. It is quite a distance to walk. Needles to say with my daughters slight build it was quite heavy to carry all the stuff. The worst was yet to come. On our last trip to the car she politely asked the "Wanna be Bouncer" if she could make a suggestion, whilst laughing at her he said yes you are welcome to make suggestions to the management team of which their were five Afrikaans people standing in front of my daughter. She asked them if she could make a suggestion upon which they all burst out laughing responding "of about the porters" She repeated her suggestion, only to be laughed at by all five "Afrikaners", as well as the bouncer standing behind her. To say the least my daughter was degraded and belittled. This made me embarrassed of my heritage and I felt so grateful that I brought my children up English. The management team of Cedar junction is the reason why this country is in this state and will never stand a chance to improve. It is no wonder we are called "Dutchman" and I will never again say that I am Afrikaans. My final point is that I will never advise anyone to go to Cedar Junction because if the management team has such an incredible ignorant and dreadful attitude, I wonder how the business is still standing. This was a first and a last!
