When applying for finance it is usually the most loathsome process that requires constant following up the customer. In the case of Al Baraka bank it was not the case. Fadeela handled my request with the professionalism rarely seen these days. Not only did she constantly follow up and check on the status, she provided advice that one would expect from seasoned consultants with many years of experience. She is truly an asset to the organisation and takes the hassle out of applications.

I have a Client that we have done Transportation for during the course of the year. I should have been paid in the beginning of September already but Albaraka Bank Limited cant seem to allocate the Funds that was paid to my Client into his account. Absa released the Money to Al Baraka on 12/09/2022 and Proof of Payments have been provided to Al Baraka, from the 12/09/2022 they have advised that it will take 3 days to reflect in my Clients account. Until the 16/09/2022 the money still not showing, my client went into the bank on Saturday the 17/09/2022 and they have advised again that funds will reflect over the weekend or first thing Monday 19/09/2022 morning. My Client went to the Lenasia branch again, and they advised on Monday that the funds will reflect on Monday Evening. My client still havent received the funds as now they saying that the funds takes another 3 days to reflect, after they confirmed via Phone that it will be in the account on Tuesday morning. Still nothing. I have accounts to pay, interest being charged on outstanding monies, Cashflow of my Business is struggling, and the bank manager just dont worry, after numerous calls to him.

On 14 October 2020, my husband and I went to AlBaraka Bank in Rosebank Johannesburg as my husband wanted to open an Islamic bank account there. There were two bank tellers/advisors and we were ushered to the female assistant wearing a full burka. She told us that they won't open a bank account for my husband because he is from Pakistan. This is despite the fact that he has legitimate documentation and papers. She was not interested in looking at that. We asked her why Al Baraka was refusing to open an account for him based on his nationality considering the fact that this is an Islamic bank and has branches in Pakistan. She told us that the bank had listed "Pakistan as a high risk country" and won't open an account for him as a Pakistani. When we asked her how then does AlBaraka bank have branches in Pakistan she replied saying they are not branches they are subsidiaries, and they aren't connected to the Rosebank branch. What she said made no logical sense and we felt that she was clearly discriminating against him because he is a foreign national. Her behaviour was very much contrary to the principals of Islam and also against the constitution of South Africa. We subsequently went to a large South African bank that has won awards for Islamic banking and had no issue opening an account and were treated very professionally at that other bank. South Africa is a democracy where everyone should be treated with respect. Our impression of the teller was that she was xenophobic, unprofessional and a disgrace to Islam. There is no space in South Africa or anywhere in the world for hatred and racial discrimination. Foreign banks like AlBaraka should exit South Africa if they are going to conduct themselves in a unprofessional and hateful manner like Rosebank AlBaraka conducted itself on 14 October 2020. I will also report this issue to the Ombudsman for Banking Services.

Obtaining car finance with albaraka bank is hassle free. I was really happy with the services provided by the Albaraka Bank Laudium branch in helping me to finance my car. This is my second car finance through them and i'm really happy with the rate i was given and the services provided on both times. Thank you!
