African Furniture Removals
Based on recent customer reviews, African Furniture Removals receives sharply divided feedback from customers across South Africa. Satisfied clients consistently praise prompt cross-country deliveries between Johannesburg and Cape Town, competitive pricing, professional packing with blankets and wrapping, and responsive sales communication. However, a substantial group of customers report serious concerns including damaged or broken furniture, disputed insurance claims, unannounced price increases after deposits, use of subcontractors without notice, missed delivery dates, and unresponsive handling of complaints, with the director frequently named as dismissive when damage disputes arise.

My move was from Johannesburg to Cape Town 1 - Gave me a quote and I paid the deposit. They sent me an invoice for the outstanding amount and then 5 days later sent a revised invoice saying that the price had gone up by18% due to increase in the fuel price. In my opinion this is ********* business practise. It was too close to my moving date and I had already paid the deposit else I would have changed to another company. 2 - The inventory form asked whether I wanted to take out insurance and I confirmed that I did. 3 - I queried when the delivery would take place and explained that I would have to fly down to Cape Town for the delivery, and then fly back to Johannesburg. They said delivery would be on either the Monday or Tuesday. Subsequently they sent an email confirming delivery for the Monday. I flew down very early on the Monday only to get a whatsapp as soon as i got off the plane saying that delivery would be on the Tuesday. I had to incur cost to sleep in a hotel the Monday night. 4 - They managed to break the rattan on my coffee table, as well as the seat frames on 3 tub chairs. When I raised this with them they said I couldn't claim against the insurance I had taken out as this only covered something happening to the truck which in turn resulted in the damage. It did not state this on the inventory form, it was covered later in the T & C's which was sent later. I would not have taken this insurance if it had been made clear on the inventory form. The director, Hein, said in an email that I had not requested them to do the packing for me and queried how I had done the packing in order to protect my furniture. The problem is, how does one pack a tub chair to ensure that the frame of the padded seat, which *****s on to the chair frame, is not broken. Put it in a steel container? What does one have to do to break the frame of the seat, put the rest of the furniture on it ? 5 - The director said that they would look at carrying some of the cost to have the broken furniture repaired. I sent through quotes I obtained in Cape Town and since sending them to him there has been a deathly silence. Based on my experience with A-F-R I will not recommend anyone using them ever. Stay far away!

This is the second time I have used African Furniture Removals to move my family cross-country. They are professional, punctual, and a pleasure to work with. I have used both options one where they do all the packing for you and one where you pack yourself. Even with the pack yourself option they still bring blankets to wrap all your furniture and appliances, and check boxes are properly secured. I have and will continue to recommend them to friends and family.

I am very satisfied with the service and all the help they gave me. I will definitely recommend them. Just one thing - I feel the drivers should handle the boxes marked as fragile with more care. But overall very happy. Thank you African Furniture Removals!

By far the worst removal company ever. They nag you to make payment and then they do not answer their phones. They put an emergency contact number on their website that no one answers. They made us pay R1800 extra for storage, they put our furniture in H & M storage that do not answer their phones either. We have our furniture in a storage unit that we do not have access to, we need certain items that we cannot get. Both companies are honestly pathetic.
