Duma Manzi is a tranquil lodge on the river. 45min 4X4 trip to get threre from the top where the beautiful glass barn is. Food and staff were excellent. Rooms were divine. Lots of animals ( not the big 5) Totally relaxing.

I booked a few treatments for our Anniversary. First treatment back scrub then back neck and shoulder massage. Room was very dark they could not see if the scrub was washed off properly. They started the massage realized there was still scrub on our backs, arms, stopped massaging got a towel wiped off the scrub and oil and started the massage again . This happened 4 times. Then I had a gel manicure my husband a pedicure. We were supposed to choose our lunch before starting that never happened. The gel UV light never worked properly. I asked her to get another one, second one also not great. My husbands toe nails have been cut very very short , the the****** did not know how to file the corns on the toes , also not great on filing the heels. We decided not to have lunch as we were told it would take a hour once you have ordered. We visit different spas every 6 weeks ,this has to have been the worst.Beautiful facility but badly managed

The worst experience ever at a spa: - The change room toilets had so much rust and were not clean. - The seating in the change room was visibly dirty, it seems the upholstery hasn't been cleaned in years - There was only 1 hair dryer - Some of the jets in the jacuzzi weren't working. - The pool had a lot of dirt in it, especially the floor of the deep end and the ledge seat along the side of the pool - The steam room wasn't working - During the 60 minute massage the power went on and off multiple times which was the opposite of relaxing as the lightung changes from dim to harsh bright overheard lighting and back again about 6 times - They got my food order wrong - The tissue box in the change room was empty My daughter and I were welcomed warmly by front desk and booked in for our treatments. I returned from the bathroom to find her being attacked by an old lady at the pedicure station. Apparently she's one of the owners, and had also come to get her nails done. She didn't have the professional courtesy or manners to wait until I arrived to address the matter with myself as the adult, but instead chose to drive my daughter to tears demanding to know her age and shouting at her that no under 18s were allowed. I stated that at no point were we told she's not allowed to have a Mani or that it was against the rules. Otherwise we would have left in the beginning. She then went on to say there's often naked men wandering around. I stated the fact that the place was completely empty except for us but if they had told us it's a nude facility, that I wouldn't want to be there myself either. I asked what her solution is since they already started her nails and that the place was empty despite it being Christmas week. She refused to let her finish her nails and asked us to leave. I told her it's her place so we'll respect the rules and leave but that it's been an extremely unpleasant experience. She didn't care. She carried on having her nails done. The manager was lovely and apologised to us profusely. Apparently other children have been allowed before, but they were white. So, very sadly, it's a race issue. We also had other the******s come after us to apologise for the traumatising experience and who also confirmed that there's institutional racism at this so called 4 star hotel and spa.

This place is a shame. What a dump. What you get is defenitely not what they offer you on facebook. This is just a place to come and drink and then entertain your "skelmpie" for the night.Cabins are in a state,we didn't had hot water our first night, towel rails were broken off,on the ground, our braai place still had left overs off previous guest's ashes. No steak knives, oven, fridge and were rusted. My kids room's matrasses were so thin they could feel the base through it.Cutelery and utensils were only 4 of each and bare minimum.Don't let the name and surrounding area fool you

We checked in Saturday night for a Valentine treat. on arrival at 2pm room was not ready. Valentine Buffet R950.p.p. I have stayed in The Palace at Sun City at a better rate, and have never been asked ro pay R950.00 p.p. for a Buffet. We never took it. on return to room at 10pm we found ariconditioner non operational. I call reception of which the line was busy. at 10.24pm i was called back. We where in bed and it was too late to come and look at airconditioner. On check out i was asked to pay R365. for flowers my husband had ordered for me of which i never received. on the whole experience, i would advise people to rather pay Palace Prices for the Palace experience. Valley Lodge same price. Very very disappointing to say the least for the price

Treated my wife during our recent anniversary stay at Valley Lodge for a mani + pedi at their spa. COVID-19 she was attended by unskilled “the******s” using unsanitary and pre-used equipment and old product - non conformance to COVID safety and basic hygiene. My wife’s foot was cut by the pedicurist, injuring her to the extent she bled profusely as the result of dangerous unskilled use of sharp and unsanitary tools in the hands of unqualified and incompetent staff. On our return we emailed the spa explaining our awful experience which was also sent the the general manager of Valley Lodge, Wikus who immediately agreed to refund this bad service. Notwithstanding no refund made and several further emails as no refund was forthcoming GM advised me to contact my counsel. Two letters of demand were sent, which GM takes no accountability for. We are amazed that this GM is in a service industry serving the public. Beware of this Spa, which charges top dollar for extremely questionable and unprofessional service without recourse and a take it or leave it attitude. If you are thinking of going to Valley Lodge and Spa you should seriously reconsider and rather spend and enjoy your hard earned cash elsewhere.

Disguisting how no one ever gets back to you with regards to your booking. When you call, your spoken to very quickly, as if your annoying him... and then you want to confirm your booking and payment and after countless emails begging them to answer you they dont. Well done for ruining a 30th birthday surprise
